This was just to show he’s going to camp. He’ll sign an extension by July 25th.

He could have signed it 2 days before camp to show he would be there, he may get an extension before the 25th ( i personally don't see it happening but you never know) but any deal he might sign now will be much closer to the Cowboys offer than to the type of deal he wants, that's what signing the tag now does to his negotiating position

True, but Romo always played ball and signed a six year deal. A lot of the guys who were real buddy buddy with Jerry signed those deals and didn’t put up a fight. I can’t fault Dak for admiring Jerry but not just doing anything he says and signing a crazy long deal. Dak lets his agent handle all that. Of course a good side effect of that is there is at least a glimmer of hope that he really will play somewhere else...
I wish there was a glimmer of hope you’d post your drivel somewhere else

I see it totally different. There is no reason to sign the tag before a deal is done. It in no way signals a deal is close. In fact, I see it more likely that talks have deteriorated to the point where Dak’s camp may be fearing the tag being rescinded. That seems unlikely but with Dalton signed, that fear could creep in if negotiations got heated recently. To me, this move is actually a hardball move from Dak. It locks in that cap number which the team hopes to reduce. He may have decided to just play on the tag, bet on himself again with the new coaching staff, and hope Watson and Mahomes get signed for even more. I see this as trying to force Jerry’s hand. It also could simply be to lock in a salary in case there is no season or a shortened one. I suspect the PA has informed players not under contract to get it done before some type of deal is struck so they will be covered and get paid this year.
yeah thats how I see it, he wants to lock something in just in case, and he could still sign a contract , it has no bearing on that.

I wonder just what players would be paid if no season, I cant see them getting full pay to not play at all.
if that were the case many would just want to have the season off !

I know exactly what you meant. But I couldn’t disagree more with you. It’s not even worth discussing it . There’s nothing you like about this quarterback. That’s important . In Prescott’s first three seasons he won more primetime games than any other quarterback. . Won more game for he had a ball in his hands last that any other quarterback. Like I said someone’s not paying attention or you just don’t understand what Fact really means
Prescott has played a weak schedule every season until 2019, at which time he finally faced defenses that were not in complete disarray.
Each year I watched as the East grew weaker, and then in 2019 the NFC as a whole was finally back to strength in at least a marginal degree.
Prescott played great against teams that were more broken than the Cowboys- and that's why he had success.
But when the pressure was on- and 2019 proved this- Prescott was sub par.
If you are a Cowboys fan, you should care about this.

He’s a team player with an awesome new coach. Never had a doubt in my mind this would happen. Plus it’s a huge pay raise! If he never played another down after next season he’s set for life.

This narrative that Dak had to sign his tender because he was worried about Dalton and DiNucci is hilarious.

I mean Don Rickles level stuff ( for those who remember him)

Didn’t read all 11 pages. Has anyone mentioned the fact that no QB has ever played on the tag and then signed a long term deal with that team? Dak would be the first ever. Doesn’t bode well fo a deal getting done, especially if the price goes up during the year.
dak could be the first ever, but it depends on how he plays and how far the team goes.
cousins was one, but he could not get his team in the playoffs.
the situation with dak and dallas is fairly unique.
most teams especially good teams get their qb signed before it comes down to the tag or even playing on the tag.
So again dallas is unique in this situation.

two things
1.dak has to play good enough to make jones boys want to keep him
2.if Dak has pissed them off, they may not want to sign him and will go in another direction next season.

as evidence, jerry got pissed and got rid of jimmy, so he would have no problem dumping dak.

You aren’t very informed are you. It doesn’t matter who the Cowboys play year in year out. Every team gets ready for the Cowboys. We get the best from every team.

Well Rickles would probably be making fun of dak, and be for dalton and dinucci.

I look at it as him getting some reward when he exceeded his 4th round pay. Evens things up.

Roughly 34 million total for 5 years at an average of 7 million a year but the beauty part is that he gets to drive the bus for just one more season and we are free to move on via draft, FA, or any other means.

I wish him all the best and a kindly adieu
Right on. I'm not here to pee on your parade.
