not surprised at all. I still think he will get his NFL record breaking deal before the deadline too..

But the tender signing is more about making sure Dalton doesn't get even one snap with the first string. Dak has NEVER ever EVER let anyone compete for his job.. and I posted this months ago.. there was no way he would risk it. The guy knows the moment the coaches see that another QB can run this offence.. Dak is done and there goes his dollars.

Dak knows that the only chance he has of getting a monster contract is right here. No one else is paying him close to what jerry will.

Marcus, a QB has never held out. New HC with a new offense and he no shows on a 31.4M deal with so many out of work? Do you think the angry fans wouldn't be letting his sponsors know guilty by association? He got those endorsements being the DC QB.

I agree, it is an assumption on my part but I would bet the farm that he wouldn't have retained one sponsor and you can bet their ad people have been talking to Todd France about Prescott's intentions. I don't think he or Prescott ever intended on letting it get that far to find out. Before this economy, it might have been a little different but people are in a bad mood about jobs.

What was he gonna do? "Hey, don't buy Progresso soups, hold out for Campbell's Chunky soup". "Here's how I hold out my Pepsi can to get every last drop". "Be courteous and hold out the door for ladies at 7-11". "Sleep Number Beds, I wouldn't take 8 or 9, I held out for 10".

Sorry but I think you're being dramatic. If there were going to be rumblings with what Dak does "in this economy" there'd have been something when he allegedly turned down those rumored offers, which were a lot of money, one of which would have made him the highest paid player if I'm not mistaken. How much did that register on his sponsor front? What did happen though was that those angry that he even gets to play in that money arena used it as a weapon to call him greedy or whatever else. So just piker fans were making noise. Besides, once the regular season starts, there'll be other topics that will get much more attention I'm guessing, so outside of Dallas no one would really care that Dak would be holding out. It's regular NFL business. No one knows if it's the FO that's not bargaining in good faith. Do you really think enough loser fans would get together to try to boycott Dak's sponsors and that sponsors would be that spineless to listen? Come on.

making a huge assumption his agent and camp would have done this, I believe NO, they would not have..they already had a number in mind and they were going to stick with it regardless of what wentz and Goff did..

Considering that would have made Dak 2nd-3rd highest paid AAV with the highest guaranteed money, and would be up for a 3rd contract in 2023, I believe they would have signed it.

He could have signed it 2 days before camp to show he would be there, he may get an extension before the 25th ( i personally don't see it happening but you never know) but any deal he might sign now will be much closer to the Cowboys offer than to the type of deal he wants, that's what signing the tag now does to his negotiating position
I’m not sure where some are getting this July 25th date from — a player who is offered the franchise tag MUST sign a new / long term deal by July 15th — if they do not then a new deal can not be negotiated or signed until after the season .

The pressure is all on Dallas. If he goes into this season on the tag, he'll end up under the tag again next year and then bouncing the year after, just on principle.

Completely agree. His value is so much higher in Dallas than for other teams.

And then you lost me. He has never "let anyone compete for his job?" The organization made the decision to stay with the hot hand, not then-rookie Dak. That's a ridiculous statement. Right or wrong, that was the Front Office's decision.

This idea that he's fearful of Andy Dalton is also silly. Dak is an extremely confident person. He also has an owner slash General Manager who desperately wants to validate himself, so they will give Dak every chance to show the Cowboys drafted a great (in their opinion) quarterback.

Well marcus, it depends on what the sponsors themselves think about all this. Maybe they dont like it personally, and or think dak is not very
popular right now, so it could lead to less ads for him , which will affect how much he makes.
I dont think I would want him to be the face of my product, after all this.
I think his ads are mainly on during the season, and during games, so have to wait and see.
I think having athletes on commercials is silly anyway, because even though some fans like them, many also dont like them..

Yeah, that's not how advertising and endorsements work.

I realise that Dak was a rookie.. but it was widely reported that he told Carrot that if he was staying as starter then he didn't want Romo taking snaps at practise. so I don't know.. I'm just saying the dude has never, ever had to compete for his job.

I thought the Chargers didn't expect Drew to ever get back healthy enough, so they spent their #1 pick on Eli. This is probably just my imagination because I don't remember ever reading about what actually happened.

If that was the case Dalton never would have been signed. DiNucci would have beat out Rush and you're back at square one.

DiNucci will be on the practice squad this year.

Rosters are increased to 55; 2 extra spots. I believe most teams will use one of the spots for 3rd QB; eliminates the gamble of a QB passing through waivers.

As expected Dak handling this like a true professional. Not holding out will either play on the tag or get a long term deal done. Hes a better man than me thats all im sayin

Lol he was never given the starting job in high school, college and now the nfl. He was the backup prepared well and when he got his chance took the jobs at every level of competition. Why lie about another man? it makes you look weak as hell

This is going perfectly. Now let him play out year and prove he can lead team deep into playoffs and justify wanting top money.
Lol when dak plays defense and special teams holla at me. He led the offense to 4th best in the league last year
