Adams can be a game changer. He is a dominant run defender that sets a physical tone. Outside of the 4.3 guys he can cover anyone in the league. He understands what route combinations to look for which means he can break on balls out of a robber formation, he can play cover 2 or 3. He's a dominant blitzer.

Those skills generate turnovers and negative plays. He allows you to play nickel all the time and still be physically dominant; big nickel would be tremendous. He allows you to roll and disguise coverages and blitzes.

Darren Woodson contributed much the same and he was certainly a game changer. He and Clinton-Dix/Woods would be one of the best S tandems in the league.
As my son would say it...."FACTS!"...A legit back end..patches holes when the pressure doesn't get there on time. Worth the risk...possible playmakers on all 3 levels on defense.

I would throw in that 3rd rounder if it meant having him for the 2020 season as well but I can understand if others feel that's too high of a price.
I was in the 1st only crowd, but with us getting a 3rd and 4th comp, Id be more willing to add a 3rd.

Switching to a hybrid scheme makes a difference too. Hybrid schemes can be blitz intensive, and having a player like Adams a threat every down could be huge.

Only reason I'm big time behind doing this particular deal at this price is I think he is the final piece.

This defense isnt good enough to get out of the NFC as is.

With him, and not just because of his play, but because he adds the vocal leader that's so obviously absent on defense, I think we have a legit shot at winning...this year...not have to continue to wait to plug this hole, and plug that hole lol. Nice.

120 year old Gil Brandt agrees with me, so theres that!

Great point about the new scheme, I agree completely. I think paying for a player like Adams would have been a waste in our previous paint-by-numbers scheme, but in a creative, blitzing defense, his skills are maximized.

The question is "Is Jamal Adams the final piece to the puzzle for a Super Bowl?". If yes, then trade for him, if you aren't certain play the game until the Jets finally say okay what will you offer for him. For me, I wouldn't give up a 1st round pick until I knew I had Dak under contract for at least 4 years. Dak on the franchise tag only is still to much a risk going into 2021 (assuming we have a 2020 season). Now giving up a 2nd and 3rd, I could handle but still wouldn't be extremely happy on it because next year you are going to have to extend Adams.

As to players being traded with a pick, just depends on which players. I wouldn't give up any game breakers on offense and that includes Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, Elliott, Pollard or Dak. Maybe Connor Williams as they still need interior line help and combine with say Crawford, Armstrong, and Joe Jackson/Jalen Jelks (either one) plus say a 2nd or better yet just a 3rd would be ideal. Doubtful probably but that is what I would shoot to do.

For as well traveled as he is, HaHa is a good coverage FS. Teams dont want to pay him because he is a very poor Safety in run support. As a coverage Safety, PFR has him giving up only a 67 QB rating in coverage. Adding Adams may make HaHa a more viable long term option at FS. The tandem would kind of remind me of Woodson/Marion

I'm not a huge Prescott fan, but I'm excited to see what he can do under this coach in his prime years.

The OLine is top notch and theres enough skill players here to have success.

Itll be the inability to stop certain passing attacks that would be the downfall of this team.

I just really think Adams changes a lot for this team in a lot of ways, and yeah I think he makes the difference you reference.

He is a presence and a vocal type of leader.

Go back to the post game scene in New England last year....Michael Bennett of all people is the guy speaking up in the locker room.

We need someone to step up and lead this defense in a big way, in several ways.

Well that in itself is huge lol!!

And btw please continue the Garrett bashing. He well earned it. Easy for someone else to tell you to let a decade go.

That's a good thing in a way. It gives hope that players we think suck may not be all that bad. Its weak, but hope is a big part of being a Dallas fan anymore, as sad as that sounds!

This thread is hilarious.

- Adams is not overrated. He's one of the better Ss in the league. Anyone saying they don't want him is being ridiculous. He would make this defense much better.

- The Cowboys could afford him if they wanted to take him on.

- The cost to acquire will be very high. That's about the only reason anyone should be hesitant about adding him. If the Jets want two #1s like Ramsey got, sure, I could understand someone suggesting that is too rich.

For years, I had to listen to fools talk about Garrett like they knew what they were talking about, when clearly thy didn't.

So they're now going to hear just how wrong they were for years from me.

If they don't like that? Too bad, let the weak block me or put me on ignore or whatever else they need to do to hide from the truth.

The Jets will tax Dallas heavily in any trade unfortunately which makes it unlikely.

Yeah I think out of any team we’re screwed when it comes to getting Adams bc the Jets aren't gonna wanna cave to his demands.

Unless we have no problem overpaying that is. Lol.
