Paul Rochester died in Jacksonville, FL, on Sunday, June 7 at age 81. He won a Super Bowl with the 1968 Jets and an AFL Championship with the 1962 Dallas Texans. He was signed as an UDFA by the Cowboys in 1960. Although he played in the College All-Star Game, the Cowboys released him before the regular season.

I don't usually post about UDFAs who never made the team, but in the pic below, Rochester (wearing #72) is consistently misidentified as Bill Herchmann. Google pix of Herchmann and Rochester and you can easily tell who #72 really is.

Easy to tell the difference....

But the most amazing aspect of the photo is how they got Tom Landry to pose in the number 24 uniform. :)

RIP, but why do we care? Never played a game for the Cowboys. Maybe this should be posted elsewhere if at all.

Rochester went on to have a nice career with the Jets, where he played on a good DL with Gerry Philbin and Verlon Biggs. Got a Super Bowl ring out of it. RIP.

Well, he was on the 1960 College All-Star team, and as I said, people look at the number in the pic and just assume he's Bill Herchman, when it's obvious he's not. There is no other reason for you to care, so you can just keep walking. Nothing to see here.

There is no reason for anyone to care.

And yet, here you are... for the fourth time. Lonely?
What are you, mentally challenged? Here I am and no matter how many times I show up, it has nothing to do with me caring about someone I never knew, never met.
