I wasn't singling you out as someone thinking he's the next Adams. I pretty sure you're more sensible than that. As a matter of fact, I, too, am quite hopeful that this kid turns out to be a very pleasant surprise going forward. He obviously has ball skills and hits like there's no tomorrow. Still, as we both know all to well, he's yet to prove himself to be starting material. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he's at least a solid backup, though. Here's hoping he continues to be as impressive as he seems already. :)

Cant wait for the game threads when the same people who are saying safeties don't matter are moaning when Woods is stinking up the joint and Dix can tackle a RB.

I dont know HOW anyone thinks theres a position on a football field, especially a DB in a pass happy ERA, that doesnt matter.

You stick just anyone out there and try to hide them then, well, how has that worked out in Dallas lately?

You dont want Adams fine, that's one thing. Dont want to trade a precious 1st (but it's ok to use THAT pick on a safety and risk a bust), fine too.

But saying something like a certain position doesnt matter is ridiculous.

A safety CANT impact a game? Sounds like people who defend the team no matter what have gotten used to below average to the point where you've convinced yourselves that a safety cant impact a game.

What happened on the play at Jets last year when Dallas went for two? Did that impact the game enough for anyone?

Jamal Adams is better than any defensive players that will be available in the back half of the 1st round next year. It would take more than that to get it done. Give them Woods to fill their hole and a mid round pick.

If the Cowboys could get permission to talk to Adams, agree to a reasonable extension, I would be fine with giving up a little extra. He's a diverse player, a leader, true alpha dog and apparantly a good guy off the field.

But this is an extreme long shot at best. Interesting to see if Adams holds out a la Zeke when training camp opens up.

You sure about that? The way our 1st two rounds have gone with exception of this draft, I’d give a 1st for obvious 1st rd talent. We got a 5th rd OT with a 2nd a couple years ago.
Use names.

Code words are no good.

"5th rd OT"?

Who Dat?

Bending?

Jane Slater's idea of 'bending' is missing in her monthly Botox injections for her lips.

Any bend to come to Dallas means Jerrah gets to bend over when he demands a new billion dollar contract.

When do we stop telling players we drool over them and then have to tell them 'team friendly or no deal?".

Then we hear for years about how disingenous we are?

Let's stop that.

It just makes us look impotent.

I don't have a problem with people having reasonable concerns about the total package..that's a fair opinion..but those people are few and far between

"don't give up a first"

Not reasonable. Not intelligent.
Talent wise Adams is probably worth a first. But that could be negated by his contract demands. I’m just sayin’. There are very few absolutes.

agree..lets say we do something realy dumb and give up two 1sts for him. What happens when we can only get him to stay here 1 year then we lose him to the highest bidder? YUP, ALL THOSE PICKS ARE WASTED! I hate the idea. It looks like fools gold.
Agreed. I understand he willing to wait for extension but I don’t think we should as many variables come into play

well safety does matter but they just cant impoct the game on a micro or macro level like other positions so most importantly when u factor in the cost (premium draft capital PLUS cap space) it is not a great idea.

if u can draft a great safety and have him on a rookie contract it is one thing...but this is not that

giving out market setting contracts left & right plus having no draft picks is a recipe for complite disaster

the people saying safety isn’t a position of value are the same ones who will ask why we don’t create turnovers on defense. You’d think after a decade plus of this they’d have figured it out by now.

Also, another point people tend to forget, I've mentioned it before and now seems a good time to reiterate..

Trading that first for Adams now, gets him here now, on the field this year making an impact.

There's none of the waiting to see what falls in Dallas' lap on draft day. Giving up compensation to move up for a bust. Waiting through TC and whatnot for someone who may not even start. Watching as said 1st rounder flounders on the field. Or hell, even waiting 3 years for the ROI.

No, trading that 1st now gives Dallas the guaranteed impact now without any of the questions later.

Of course, this is all hypothetical assuming the contract talks run smooth and barring any significant injury.

I find it funny that people here don’t want a guy that is one of the only guys with 200 plus tackles and 10 plus sacks in their first three years as JJ freaking watt. From the safety position.

Flip DiNucci next offseason for the first-round pick we surrender for Adams.

Problem solved.
I like the rookie that much myself. I want to keep him .There’s a different way to do it

Yes, dealing for All Pro 24 year olds that make plays in several different ways and is the vocal leader we desperately need is a "recipe for disaster."

There are other ways to acquire players to make a winning team than the draft.

We can wait for that sure, but then picks bust and it sets you back, then we lose the WR combo, then Tyron cant play anymore, etc.

When do we go for it?

You havent seen many Jets games if you think this guy isnt a playmaker, or you're telling me things like Byron Jones is a better player because he plays a different position.

I'm personally sick of having guys that never make any plays. You have your own thoughts and that's cool as well.
