That’s what Dak Prescott has made so far in the NFL. Even if he signs a 4yr/$36m per year contract - the Cowboys still got an insane bargain over an 8 year span!

That’s just my personal opinion.
At the time, as our second pick in the 4th round, he was happy. No question he out performed his contract, but no one took advantage of him. He could have signed a new deal at the start of last season, but chose not to do so. He hoped for a great year and even more money. But 8-8 is troubling. Don't know what he's asking. Don't know what is being offered. No way the fo should feel guilty about the way things have worked out to date.

Very true.

Dak has played great and produced much more than he has been compensated for.

On the flipside though, if Dallas got only 1 playoff with him on that bargain deal, how will they get more than that when Dak is taking up a significant percentage of the cap?

That's what concerns me.

Bargain basement price for one of the best up-and-coming QB's in the league. I want him to remain a Cowboy. But, it's not endearing (to me) to turn down life-changing money because you want more life-changing money. I've grown to love him and really think he brings a lot to the table. But, I also believe it's a mistake ON HIS PART to demand the top dollars he's probably going to get. The endorsement potential for marketing himself as a team-first guy is eroded. No question it will impact the team's ability to surround him with other stars. long run I think insisting on a couple million more a year costs him in the long run. More importantly, as smart as he appears to be, the extra dollars shouldn't ever have an impact in his life.

He's put himself in position for the big payday. No doubt. But, I honestly think he'd be better off to do a team-friendly deal and brand himself as the best teammate in the NFL....and still have more money than he can count.

The thinking that he's owed back pay is something I disagree with.

He will likely be offered top pay between now and July 15th.
Quite possibly receiving the title of "Highest Paid" in the league.
With a little help from his agent, he has put himself in position
for that to happen. It has nothing to do with his rookie contract.

So what, that's the name of the game, add talent and find value. Every year in April we all want players to drop. We have little concern over the money they're losing as the picks and rounds go by as long as we get to run to the podium and make our selection. Then we all celebrate the theft :flagwave:Maybe some of you are feeling guilty o_O

I'm not

I disagree with back pay too. What I don’t disagree with is him wanting to get top dollar instead of looking to sign a team friendly deal.

I agree with what you are saying. I just want to point out he has received performance escalators and has made $4,028,392 over his first 4 years.

I think Dak will come to contractual terms with the team.

You give what you can afford??

Last year (without money commited to Coops and Zeke) we had more money available but Dak (understandably due to down season) didn't want to sign.

Sep 2019 - Zeke signs (as he's holding out)
Mar 2020 - Coops signs (FA)

Dak missed out  ..... the fault in his past payment history is, in part, his (or agents) design.

Its about now and the future that matters.

Not one person in hear or any journalist knows exactly what the holdup is over. Buy over the last two months all reports has been that the contract holdup is not over money but length of contract, but yet post after post after post still insinuates Dak is holding out for a few million more. Reports are that Dak wants 4-years while the Cowboys want five. If the reports are correct, wouldn’t Dak be taken less for the totality of the contract? So how is that greed?

Yes, Dak way outperformed his contract, but that’s just how things work sometimes, and that has no bearing on his current negotiation.

If you believe the reports Dak isn’t taking less. He wants the same guarantees (or more) that Wentz and Goff got but over a shorter period.

4 years is 4 years, whether for Dak or Wentz.

He got paid where he was picked. Got a few million as performance bonuses. Made 5 million or so in endorsements. Was under paid for what he did on the field compared to QB that make 30+ a year. Now is time for him to get paid and he wants the worth of what he is doing. Will get 35 a year now. Good for him and us...
