Not my final answer but at first glance I've got to throw #22 a bone here.

All time rusher and the linchpin of a dynasty.

Edited to add: Hadn't even seen the above before posting. I guess that settles it!

Wow what an off season. Next someone will start a thread asking what color shoes is the best for a QB. To make this thread even more funny is not one has mentioned any players prior to the 90's. I'm not say this is mine but forgetting about players from prior to the 90's how about a 13th round draft choice that ended up leading his team to be the only team ever to win THREE NFL championship in a row, Bart Starr, or how about a RB that led the league in rushing every year he played, Jim Brown or anither RB that was the all time leading rusher until Emmitt broke his record, Gale Sayers.

Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Bo Jackson would be my top 3 but I would be tempted to pick Jim Thorpe over all of them maybe.

Honest question? How many Super Bowls Brady wins with Jason Garrett as his coach? The greatest player in NFL history should have enough talent to overcome bad coaching IMO.
You didn’t say with JG being the HC. If that’s the case then why play the game. Lol. No one is going to make a difference. Maybe brady did what Romo did and ignore him and call his own plays. Is any defensive player gonna get it done. Could pick Bob Lilly.

And Marino has Shula as his head coach. Isn’t he the one of if not the winningest HC in history. And Marino got 0 rings.

Herschel Walker because we all know what he ended up being worth.

John Elway should get some consideration.

I agree with not picking someone who hasn't finished their careers yet. As much as I really like Mahomes, he has a lot of football left...it remains to be seen if he is going to have a HOF career.
That's why I like Peyton Manning, he proved he wasn't a system guy when he went to Denver and picked up right where he left off. We will finally see what Brady can do but I fear it's not a fair test since if he fails it could just be because he's over the hill. Mahomes has only played 2 seasons under one coach who is very much known for lifting up QBs.

The real and only Captain America...Roger Staubach. No losing seasons, 4 Super Bowls, and 2 Super Bowl Championships in a 8 years as a starting QB.

If QB is the most valuable position, then you want a QB that is a winner, leader and legend.

Lawrence Taylor, look at the package Dallas offered the Giants to trade up for him.
