How many games would you have gone before you fired the ST coach?

If you were our HC last year how many games would you have gone before you fired the ST coach and got a new kicker.

We can argue Dak contract stuff all year but the big stinky elephant in the room all year last year was our ST. I am glad JG didn’t do something about it because it was likely one of the last straws when the FO looked at why not to extend him.

I may have made 4 or 5 games with the kicker, the bye week for the ST coach and some of the staff.

8...he should have been gone after 8, if not then 10....he needed to go.....

I think most would have replace both in the previous off season.

Hard to answer this question. I can't remember the last time special teams was relevant on the Cowboys. They've been adequate to bad since I can remember.

JJ was looking for reason to keep JG. If he changed ST coaches and kicker it would have looked like he did something, even if it never got better. But nope JG just floundered. I almost think he wanted to go but not quit.

Huge phase in the game. We have had a awesome kicker and good punter for a long time. I hate being on the end of my seat for a freaking extra point.

I would have demanded actual kicking competition in training camp last year. Maher was shaky in 2018.

That's just me though.

That’s how you get better players. Especially kickers and punters. I would bring in serious competition every off season.

Well yeah, it's more than that. It's players on special teams that also make things happen. Besides the kicking game. Punter, and punt coverage. It was great when we had Jett.

Forgot about Jett. And the ice man. The days you could go to the bathroom or make a drink for any FG inside of 45 yards.

I would have made the change at the bye. But I’d never have had Maher in the team.

what difference would it have made honestly. garrett had been through all his coaches he knew and he was on a one year deal. No coach would want to come and move there family here and start over in this type of situation.

It was the best they could do.

Good luck finding a st coach worth anything mid season, maybe you want to look to college coaches...
