The major criticism of gm jerry was his propensity to like his players too much. Now many here are doing the same. We lost columbo and moved on to parnell, free and collins. In that same span we've had zero for a top notch safety. Seems safeties are more difficult to find.

They’ll end up trading him to the Eagles for bag if popcorn just to spite us

-First of all, Tony Pauline is a legit insider and I do believe this rumor could be accurate.

-As I wrote the god father deal post this week, I mentioned the Jets would want a quality, veteran starter that is controlled along with a 1st rd selection. The likes of Collins, Jaylon, Lve and Michael Gallup would meet that criteria. This is how I would rank those players: Lve, Collins, Gallup, Jaylon. I wouldn't put a 1st rd pick on the table if anyone of this list is part of the package.

-Can we absorb the loss of Collins for one season? The team does have Erving and Connor who could compete to become the starter, loser would serve as the team's game day, swing tackle. Connor Williams has the potential to fill that role for the long-term, why not find out. What about Guard? They have McGovern who can easily play, where Biad and Looney to compete to start at Center. Ervin could also backup either spots. In my opinion, we can absorb the loss of Collins along the OL.

-How much better would Adams improve our defense? He would most definitely improve our run defense from a weakness into a strength, he adds another legitimate play maker a unit which is lacking. Would be good at covering the TE. Most likely wouldn't help the back-end too much in coverage. Makes the defense better, but still not championship level.

My Conclusion, in my opinion, the team has too much cap dollars invested not only in the offense, but along the OL. Defense needs to upgrade the talent that sorely lacks play makers, certainly at the safety position. I believe Adams won't demand a contract extension right away if he is dealt to the Cowboys. Although, the offense would be weaker, I believe it would be much weaker if Gallup was traded away instead of Collins. I'm making this deal and feel confident in the player we are receiving back.

If true, Collins and pick is just initial request or starting bid.

If the teams are talking, will most likely settle around Connor Williams and pick(s).

If I were the Jets, I would definitely start off high, knowing Cowboys will offer low, and will end up in the middle. Negotiating 101. No one goes on ebay and initially offers everything they have. You don't walk into a care dealer and sign over your entire savings account. Both sides want to get the best deal possible. Our offer of a 1st and Anthony Brown at the deadline is the "low" offer. No one outside of this board thinks that is anywhere close to enough value for Adams.

On offense we have dak, zeke, cooper, gallup, cee dee, jarwin, smith, williams, zack, and can't forget pollard. Love Collins, but he's replaceable. On defense we have tank, two free agent tackles, a dubious lve, jaylon who regressed last year and an unproven backfield. Ergo, imo, adams helps the team more.
^^^^^^^ THIS. Adams and HHCD would be the best S tandem in the League. We can always find a decent RT. LC is an OG no matter what.

Tony Pauline said on today’s episode of his podcast (Draft Insiders) that the Jets want La’el Collins and a pick in exchange for Adams. He says that the Jets don’t think they can get the Cowboys to agree to this price - however, the Jets may consider doing the deal for La’el only.

I’m out at this price. No way am I giving up a very good RT for a safety.

So a RT for a box safety? I don’t think Collins straight up works. At all. In fact I would take Adams and a 3rd rounder for Collins. It’s the Jets that need to cough up an early pick for this to work.

I don’t get the Adams hype at all. If he hates the Jets as much as he says he will be available for much cheaper in the future.

Jerry should say I will give you a 2 and let that sit.

Collins is better than decent. Protecting Dak is more important than a SS.

It’s robbing Peter to pay Paul. Improve your secondary and defense while weakening your offensive line and offense.

No bueno.
We've been loading the offense for years while relying on too many scrubs on defense, particularly in the secondary. It hasn't worked. We literally haven't had a decent safety in 15 years. The secondary is in dire need of a leader. We can make due without La'El.

Ummmmm, no thanks, They can have either Conner Williams or McGovern and a 4th. We'd even throw in B Knight.

I can’t take you seriously after you ranked LVE first - he’s 3rd in that group. Our LB’ing corps sucks.
