Current cap space: 11 million. What moves create more cap space?

I know a Prescott extension gives us more space. Cutting Crawford does as well.

What others moves are there we can make to create cap space

Edit. Martin already mentioned

Could gain 7m restructuring cooper and 3m doing Jaylon but Martin's is the only one I think we should consider.

If we cut Canady, restructured Martin and re-did Crawford's contract at 4m or so then we could gain 13m which would give us 24m. of cap space.

I'd like to rollover as much cap space as possible towards next year. We'll probably use some of that 11 million throughout the year because of injuries. Extend Prescott, rollover the cap space. If we cut Crawford, I would like a replacement. I'd rather have him on the team though.

As far as other moves, I can't really think of any other than restructuring contracts, but that would push cap space down the line.

There's a handful of bottom roster guys to save a million or two here and there.

J. Lewis and X Woods are both $2.1 in savings. Chris Jones is $1.9 (no brainer).

Need part of that $11 million to sign the draft picks.
So does this mean a trade for Adams threads are dead in the water for now? :muttley:
Unless they just want to waste a 1st & 3rd round picks to not extend his contract for a 1 year rental.

Cutting Chris Jones
Cutting Olawale
Cutting Blake Bell

Jones possibly, Olawale if the UDFA FB beats him out in camp, But they picked up his option, so have plans to keep him. They just signed Bell as a FA, so why cut him.

I believe draft picks are already factored in.

Jamal Adams base is less than 900,000. If we extended him, I dont believe it would factor in to this years or next years cap unless we structured it too.

Yes rollover what they can. Part of that $11 million goes to the draft picks, unless that was already figured in.
I can't see them cutting players key or role players to save cap space, unless some UDFA clearly out plays them. however with the lack of practices and possibly TC, many rookies will not be able to compete as normal.

To create CAP space, which is what the OP asked.

This isn't a predictor of what they will do, more so what they should do.

What they should do is keep the best players, and not be concerned over saving a few million $$. They are not in bad shape to even be concerned.
So my response was to do basically nothing. Except where Jones could be beaten out by another P. Olawale possibly by the UDFA FB, but doubtful at this point.

Oh well then this thread isn't really meant for you if you aren't concerned about CAP space. That's what this thread is all about. It's not about being in a bad CAP positioning this year, CAP rolls over so it is something you should continually monitor, if you aren't getting value with a player then it is hurting your CAP for all subsequent years too.

Those three players were mentioned because we can still put together our best roster without them.

Oh no, I had my hands slapped by the thread polices, for not staying on topic to his opinion.....so what are threads meant for and who are they meant for, do we need a thread disclaimer that you know as well as everyone else, do not go by.
There was a question and I answered it, too bad if you choose to disagree with my response....have a cup of coffee or something.

The purpose of the thread was what could be done to get additional cap space this year if needed

I had seen posts questioning how we could make certain moves with only 11 million cap space. I wanted more information put out about how we can generate more cap space if needed
