I'm a lifetime Cowboy fan, but I enjoy some snarky satire. This is hysterical. I LOST IT at the drawings of Lee and Vander Esch.

I know its humor but right off the bat I feel defensive with the delusional Cowboy hype. I dont know where this myth comes from except Cowboy-hating people not being objective about the world around them. Ive heard others say Cowboy fans are always saying they are going to win the SB every year. So do fans of every team. Stephen A Smith has made a career out of hating the Cowboys and his main reason he often says is he hates the delusional fans. Every single NFL team has some fans who are over optimistic every year, its human nature. The haters just hate that the Boys have fans on cities outside Dallas. I listened to sports radio in New York for decades and you'd get more Cowboy fans calling in than fans of other non NY teams, but all fans would say "I think the (Packers/Steelers/Dolphins etc) are going to be good this year"

Disagree. Not every team thinks they’re winning the SB every year. I frequent other NFCE teams message boards frequently and usually always go to whatever teams message boards we’re playing that week and never have I seen the amount of over hype as I have here...and it’s almost every year. Go to any article on yahoo or wherever and read the comments, if it’s not hating the Cowboys then it’s largely delusional Cowboys fans. I’m quite sure there aren’t any Giants, Skins, Jets, Bengals, Cardinals, etc fans talking about Super Bowls.

I think it’s due to a couple of factors, Jerry and the media. The Cowboys didn’t become one of the richest franchises in the world for what they’ve done over the past 20+ years and if you think overall SB’s are the reason than there should be a few other teams worth more than the Cowboys or at least equivalent.

Jerry is a salesman, there’s no other owner more visible or as well known as he is. He sells hype, plain and simple. For over 20 years, whether it’s through some FA acquisition or something he says publicly to give false hope, there’s a large portion of the fan base that believes him and/or buys into it. Some fans are like Jerry and have been locked in an early 90’s bubble, always believing we’re just one piece away from being a contender. It’s one excuse after the other with the same results but different year.

The media is as bad, if not worse, as Jerry. The Cowboys draw ratings and people love them or hate them. It doesn’t matter how bad they are, the Cowboys get more attention than every other team for better or worse. A lot of that attention comes in the form of hype just to get the haters riled up and to watch the delusional fans suck down the Jerry Aid only to be let down again and again.

There’s already threads here and have been threads about us going to the Super Bowl this year when we were 8-8 last year, lost some good starters and added some question marks. Why? All because of a coaching change to a guy that coached two sure HOF QB’s and two of the best QB’s to ever play the game. His last two years he had a losing season.

I’m not saying it can’t happen, one of these years I would think it has to by default, but I don’t think there’s one fan base in the league that is as consistently delusion as this one.

The dumpster fire was 2019. That fire is out and all the deficiencies are fixed or on the mend. The Cowboys may not be elite in 2020 but they will be competitive. They have the ability to be contenders if they gel on defense and give the ball back to the offense more often so they can outscore the other team.
