atleast with Clowney we don't have to give up any picks or players to get him.
if he really means it...i'd sign him.

The team clearly values playing multiple positions poorly over one position at least fairly well.

Whoever gets Clowney is going to have an absolute beast playing for that next deal, and yes, will end up with a 3rd in 2022 when he gets it.

THAT will be the mistake. Signing him now would be genius.

Give him Crawford's money.

No need to complicate it.
Nope.

They have to have some other plan about Crawford.

If after him missing last year with his injury, having been in a bar fight and all the changes with staff and schemes..

you would have thought he would be on their fringe plans.

But still he remains untouched.

I don't get it.

Buyer Beware on Clowney. With all that talent, how come he hasn't had a 10 sack season? Why have 2 separate teams decided not to retain him? In my opinion, he's like David Irving, flashes such athletic ability, but is always hurt and inconsistent. Much rather do a 1 yr deal on Everson Griffin if they decided to sign another DE.

He's had 2 nine plus sack seasons so does this fact change your agenda?

We already have waaaay too many Defensive Ends on the roster.......and only $11 million left in the kitty.

I wonder when we’ll get a verdict on Gregory? I saw Josh Gordon is expecting to have an answer in 30 days and the guess was he was gonna be given another chance.

It’s gotta be any day now on Gregory, one would think.

Probably waiting to see what happens in camp.

Or the pics of Jerry that got him that deal in the first place.

Imagine this....take a shot on signing a guy on the cheap before he hits the market, he stinks every year during it, yet finishes the entire thing.

Crawford still being on the roster is almost unbelievable.

Strange that Jaylon and Vander looked like superstars with Crawford there, and then when quinn comes in and is bad at run stopping, they don't look so good

Even stranger that people believe Crawford brings anything comparable to what the Cowboys are paying him.

On a one year deal in a heart beat. This is the kind of thing we should be seeking out. Infinitely better than any other option we currently have opposite Lawrence. Hungry and on a one year deal could be scary.

Wasn't Clowney " hungry and on a one year scary deal " in his mere 3 sack season with Seattle last year ?

Doing this deal would be all about trying to get a 3rd comp pick for him. If he would accept a 1 year deal for $7-8 million, you could then try and set him up for success and hope someone gives him a huge deal next year. The only real cost would be whichever bottom of the depth chart DE you might not be able to sneak to the PS. I’d at least be intrigued by this situation but I’d like the Gregory and Adams things to resolve themselves first.

I think the same. He'll eventually accept something like that if no team is willing to give him a big pay day. Then you'll truly see how good he is because he is playing for his future contracts. I just don't think the Cowboys need him. Tank, Smith, Gregory, and Clowney? Dallas is probably better off carrying over any cap space they have in case it does not go up next year. But hey, a 1 year deal at 8 Mil? We'd get the best out of him. Then let some other team break the bank.

Exactly. I like Aldon Smith and Gregory. We have two draft picks from last year, one this year, and Armstrong as well. And, of course, Tank has one of the spots nailed down.

And if we’re keeping it real, Clowney didn’t exactly light the world on fire last year in Seattle.
Ya, but if its not already a top payed house hold name, than we have nothing at RDE.

Interesting. Caveat emptor.
If you compare Tyrone Crawford to Tyron Smith .. don't leave, don't dismiss this yet.. just take the time to think about this.
Crawfords contract was the result of the same personality type deal, from Tyron Smith,, you want to talk about being team friendly, just talk with T Smith.
T Smith had zero issue with term.. he laughed at term, and Jerry laughed with him, and Jerry told T Smith that he will always be taken care of.
Both parties have lived up to there end of the bargain, for both sides IMO.
So ya, sometimes players like Crawford, everyone thinks is over payed, sometimes you overpay loyalty just so you keep the dogs at bay.

When Craw his healthy those LBs love him, Craw is the garbage man, that gets run into, not about highlight reels to benefit contract extension, Craw is in there to take on OL and be a bodyguard for his LBs.
In Craw we trust,,, one of the last true gladiators...
ya im a bit of a sarcastic bastid..
