Bullied?
No!

Spirited debating?
Yes!

Besides, I can handle disagreement. But when folks start with the childish insults, that's when I (when I'm in the mood) counter with intellectual insults. ;)

Good post. Feel very similar if not exactly the same way.
I too share your intellectual insults defense mechanism but try as hard as I can to exercise tolerance before I utilize it. I admit I have not always been successful at this practice but do my dead level best to not be a hypocrite and practice what I preach.

There are just those certain people, that for whatever reason, not only push the envelope but ultimately get what's coming to them in the grand scheme of things.

Oh well...

Go Cowboys

I think many members with long tenure/post counts receive favoritism regardless of the numerous warnings on personal attacks not being allowed.

Human nature at the administrative level may influence opinion on leniency with regards to whether they should ban/bench, warn or reprimand a member if that member has firmly established roots per se. Most likely if the behavior has gone on for any length of time and been allowed to continue then the bullying practice has not only become tolerated but accepted as "Oh that's just how (insert said member) is."

But yes, daily personal attacks exist here whether inferred, implied, subtle, overt, blatant or over the top.

And it shouldnt be allowed.

CONSPIRACY! has entered the thread. I knew it wouldn't be long!

Just kidding.

Not allowing people to freely express their opinions without insults and name calling lowers the quality of this place. And I like these boards a lot. I’ve certainly been guilty at times too.

Bob the worst I've ever seen out of you is, "We're just going to have to disagree" or something like that. Yup. Real jerk move there. You're forgiven. Lol. I kid, I kid.

It's important to consider plausible deniability when citing favoritism. Some people are able to insult indirectly, or make allusions which can't be proven to be personal attacks.

That said, yes, some people seem to get a lot of latitude, whether intentional or not.

Absolutely, thanks. That's my third paragraph describing the many forms of insults and how they're delivered. It's not always a direct attack interpretation.

I like a “spirited repartee” too. But at some point, it can devolve into petty bickering. Sometimes the best thing to do is just “agree to disagree”. I’m amazed at threads where 2 guys are spending pages just arguing and insulting each other.

Anyone remember the old British comedy show “Monty Python”? Remember the skit “I’d like to buy an argument”? A guy goes into a room and says, “Hello- I’d like to buy an argument.” The guy at the desk then says, “No you wouldn’t”, then the customer says “Yes I would”, followed by “No you wouldn’t”,,,,,

Sometimes that’s the way it goes in here!

I think politeness is a disappearing characteristic. It's a societal thing and people get butthurt very easily nowadays. Wording is everything and sometimes in our haste to get a thought out on the board we (I) do a poor job with putting my thoughts into print here.

I applaud the OP for the gist of his post. Arguing is great, rudeness is a display of poor character in most cases. 150-200 years ago a lack of politeness would likely end in one or both parties dying. I'd like to imagine we're all present in the saloon having a good time discussing our team ... but armed pistoleros ! An armed society is generally a polite society. Angry or snide retorts could end badly.

Go Cowboys! The other NFCE teams are pulling at a dry teat !

LOL! Marcus, the older I get, I think I’m less of a jerk, LOL. One small benefit of getting older is realizing you aren’t as smart as you thought you were as a young man! Ha!

I admit that I get firm in an opinion at times, and probably come across as such, an opinionated *** at times..lol, but one thing still will always remain the same for nearly all posters in this forum is that regardless how polarizing opinions may be, the bottom line is that we are all Cowboys fans or we wouldn't be wasting our time here, hum... which brings me to my next point... never do crack... sorry couldn't resist,, favorite line from "The Waterboy".
So anyway, I would like to publicly apologize to anyone that I might have offended and that I always invite open subjective discussion...

I understood what you were saying. I mostly wanted to point out that the mods can't punish someone for what they strongly suspect is a personal attack, only what is undeniably a personal attack. (Plus, when it's done cleverly, it's a lot funnier!)

This coming from the guy that said CeeDee lamb isn’t fast or explosive and that LvE would never play again? Lol. Yeah. It’s the guys that appreciate Dak are the ones who start the name calling. Lol
Oh crap. I thought that said "Diehards". I gave it a like. Sorry Dakhards. (Whatever those are.)

If people could just get over the fact that I hate the biggest bully on this team, and possibly the NFL, because HE IS A BULLY (amongst other not so flattering things) then I wouldn’t have a problem with 95% of the fans here.

Oh well, hopefully he’ll be gone soon enough.

My bad. Yep. Understood.
You can't expect 24/7/365 monitoring of the not so obvious stuff. Gotcha.

But how is saying Lamb isn't fast or that LVE is done, name calling? Those are opinions that may be right or wrong or perhaps unpopular but they aren't name calling.
