"AntiGarrett" sound good on its own.

I do expect to see Pollard used more creatively this year.

We heard plenty about him maybe getting some slot reps, etc last year, not that I recall.

No reverses, and honestly, the game shape 21 was in all season, just basic carries.

Yet another frustrating thing about the last staff. They were either unwilling or weren't capable of designing things for him.

I bet MM is salivating over this personnel, and landing Lamb on top of it.

Usually a coach takes over a bad roster. No such problem here. Good for him. Hope he makes the most of it.

Seemed like Garrett throttled down the high flying Moore offense of the first 3 games when we played New Orleans, and went back to 3 yards and a cloud of dust for 1st and 2nd down.

There were wrinkles, but they just weren't used that much. Not enough of the misdirection plays for my taste.

Here's hoping that M&M go wild.

You do know Jarwin’s hands are 20X better than Zeke’s right??

Zeke forces teams to respect the run, having him out there dicates the opposing team playing bigger lineup, which is the advantage for the Cowboy Offense.

Before Westry was brought up, i actually thought safety Donovan Wilson's name was surely to come up.
A striker with who showed ball hawk INT skills last preseason before being injured.

Plus McCarthy/Nolan apparently must have thought so much of the guy who coached Wilson up in college, that they hired Maurice Linguist on as an asst. DB coach -assuming with the safeties.

How far down ,, or up the depth chart could Wilson move up in his 2nd year ? :D

I think that under this new, competent coaching staff, that Wilson will get a true opportunity to win the starting strong safety job. Based on how things have gone to this point, my belief is that Xavier Woods is playing his final season in Dallas.

He has dropped a few. But its a contradiction to say he drops a ton of INTs and then say he isnt a playmaker. Average S are in position to get their hands on it in the first place. He had 14 INT and 6 forced fumbles in three years at La Tech. That doesn't happen by accident. Difference is 'we' (alumnus) had an aggressive scheme predicated on turnovers the the Cowboys have had terrible turnover numbers all the way around over the past five years due to scheme. Let's not act like X is the only one not getting turnovers - it was scheme wide - even the CBs.

I'll give you that, and again, I'm not rooting against you, I'm just a bit more critical of exactly what he has done on the field so far than you may be, as you admitted yourself.

Im hoping like crazy that Wilson becomes something special, but realistically, he is a sixth round clone of Woods...someone you can win with if people around him are special (the rush), but not a difference maker in himself. The kind of guy other teams make FA mistakes on if the team wins.

I never saw him at LTech, but it sounds like if the pass rush improves, he will thrive, and that's what you're trying to say.

Count me in.

The way I see it, Woods, Lewis and Awuzie are in the same boat.

If they play well this year, someone else will offer them more than they are worth to us.

If they dont, it's time to move on for sure.

I think theres a real motive to change up the personnel and rebuild the secondary entirely....and that's a very good thing considering.

Love Al Harris as a coach also.

Do you stop and think sometimes how much time was wasted over the last ten years when this team had absolutely no chance, but we didnt know it?

I completely see why you lose it when people here try to defend Garrett.

Notice theres something new that pops up every week or two that's just infuriatingly ridiculous.

I tend to agree. I think the new coaching staff is unimpressed with much of what they've seen from the current group and are looking at a thorough makeover of the secondary. It's no coincidence that two early draft picks went toward cornerbacks. And they also signed two in free agency with Canady and Worley.

I do think that Awuzie, Lewis, and Woods could play their way into sticking around, but if I had to bet, I'd bet that most if not all were playing elsewhere next year.

All the time.

And I especially think about the condescending, self-professed know-it-alls who tried to defend it. As if they - and the Cowboys 'knew better'. And I think of who now look like clueless fools (but still can't admit it). And I think of poor Romo, who busted his tail, pressed as hard as he could (sometimes too hard), and did everything he could to overcome the total incompetence he was getting in coaching. And what his career might have been had they been fired years earlier when they should have. Jerry Jones should think about that a lot because he did it.

I completely see why you lose it when people here try to defend Garrett.

The verdict is in. History has been written. They've been prove wrong, over, and over, and over again. And they will continue to hear it from me every time they try to make their excuses or to lie about the facts.

Notice theres something new that pops up every week or two that's just infuriatingly ridiculous.

And it's tip of the iceberg stuff with regard to how much actually happened. Most of the people who know the most and were most heavily involved won't say anything, for fear of being ostracized from the NFL fraternity.

We'll only be further proven right when quality coaching suddenly knows what to do with this team. The Garrett era will only continue to look worse as time goes by.

With the current state of the whole season being up in the air do we really go out and sign Clowney?1/2 the season is missed let’s say, do players get a prorated amount of their salary?
I am very pessimistic. Nothing about the current state makes me think that you can play games with any kind of "reasonable" expectation of safety. I think teams have realized this as well and aren't going to add to their payroll unless something changes quickly & season becomes more likely.

It's hard to take JJT seriously... and this is all that's out there so this is a shame...

La'el Collins signed a 5 year 50M extension.

He is not super cheap but he is one of the league's better RT and he is under contract long term.
His cap hit this year is 5M and it is 12M next year... a far cry from 4M a year.

Someone needs to whisper JJT back to use google.

You’re just wrong, no other way to say it than that. The marinelli/Richard scheme is now gone and you’ll soon see the errors of your ways.
Not to rehash what's been put to rest, but theres another thread going on here...

"Stop the run....."

Look at the video posted by xwalker at 9:02pm yesterday.

Has nothing to do with Woods, but just watch his play vs the run. Sure it's a small example, but random, and pretty much what I've seen from the guy thus far.

Marinellis dated scheme isnt what made him whiff on how many runs on a clip not even about him.

My man has a LONG way to go before making a Pro Bowl.

We have multiple veterans in contract years already. Guys we've had start for us. The Worley signing would have been our classic veteran free agent insurance *before* the draft, but to pay 3mil *after* drafting two CBs shows a lack of satisfaction in what we've got.

I'm not going to say he doesn't need to improve against the run. Even at La Tech he had a bad habit of trying to blow someone up with a shoulder as opposed to wrapping up. I'm saying having X. Woods in run support is a mistake to begin with. He should only ever be playing center field and given a chance to cause turnovers.

whether center field or box support, Woods needs to become a complete safety and that includes tackling
i still recall how Saints QB Tayson Hill just bowled him over in the Saints game.
For someone " listed " as 200 pounds, he plays like he's 185 pounds like and slipping off too many tackles.

Ironically that's also a red flag area with ha Ha Clinton Dix, and something to watch on
both safeties throughout the season.

The middle of the field is going to look like a minefield.

Either the receivers will get blown up or our safeties will.
