Chido played almost to a T how his scouting report said he would. Many scouts thought he was more of a slot type or S. That's what I'm seeing.
Sure, and maybe one of these guys (Lewis, Woods, Awuzie) has a breakout type year, but if they do, we cant keep them anyway.

Remaking the secondary is the right plan for sure.

IMO, everyone except Diggs is easily replaced. I've seen flashes from the others, but nothing that would make me pay to keep them. I like Brown overall, but only at a cheaper salary.

I didn't go back and watch tape, but from what I saw Chido would play great one play, then really badly the next.

So, what he did better than Jones was be inconsistent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chido has a great ability to stick with his receiver. Unfortunately, NFL receivers catch the ball even when the CB is right on them if the CB does not a single clue how to play the ball!!!

You think someone in scouting is telling the coaches what type of corners they should want?

Just seems to be his MO no matter the coaches. He’s talked about it on air through JG and now Mike.

Sure seems like this staff is looking for the same type of corners that Richard loves.

And it's not just Kris Richard when it comes to size/length preference.

If you look around the league starting lineup rosters, you will it is very rare and just don't see the
5-9 type CBs starting.around the NFL.

Joe Haden (steelers) Casey hayward (chargers) Denzel Ward (browns) at 5.11, are the closest to those measurements and it's not just height and arm length, but it's how a player plays bigger and
more physical than what his size suggest.

As scrappy and feisty as Lewis tries to be, i still think he is the type to give ground, give up
catches before he eventually manages an INT.
But i do have to say and add, he seems to have a knack for blitzing. Some DBs don't have that.

The bigger field he has to play the more i think he is susceptible to being exposed.
He finally got the 3rd CB/slot nod when Brown got IR'ed with a torn bicep ..and overall he did not fare as well.

But if it's a clean slate with the new coaches, they are gonna see for themselves what Lewis offers ...and doesn't offer.

Glad the old coaching regime is gone. That will be very good for us.

We should all be dancing in the streets. But a lot of people just continue to bicker.

I've been saying this since MM was hired. "CLEAN SLATE" for all. And even then I got roughed up about it...LOL. Oh well...shrug.

Good, I hope this allows Jourdan to overcome the shortness stigma that the previous coaching staff tried to stick on him. He's dynamite.

I think it will behoove us as fans to trust the current coaches to tend to their DBs. Let 'em coach them up, as best they can before we tend to judge them prematurely. There'll be a new and hopefully, improved scheme to get accustomed to. It's best to simply wait for the results to speak for themselves. Any inclination toward instant gratification would surely be in vain in the new setting this year. ;)

CB's on the Falcons when Nolan was DC:

Asante Samuel: 5-10
Desmond Trufant: 6-0
Robert Alford: 5-10
Robert McClain: 5-9
Charles Mitchell: 5-11

That's from preseason 2013. Doesn't appear Nolan prefers taller CB's.
Look at all the corners they brought in this season after Nolan was hired........6ft 1in 200lbs. Regardless of what he did in Atlanta they have brought in 5 corners this offseason and all are 6ft 1

I see this as a big opportunity for many players to be able to come into camp with a chances of showing the coaches why they deserve a starters role or just getting more snaps through out the game.

You mean when he's saying take the best player he's also saying take this type of corner only regardless of who is coaching the defense and what scheme they want to run?

Will McClay is not a decision maker and he damn sure shouldn't be trying to force player types on a coaching staff.
