Yep, we're renting instead of buying on this one.......:flagwave:
We'll see about that. The deadline date is fast approaching. Then it's up to Dak to show he's worth buying or if they will just keep renting.

I think the Cowboys FO, Dak and his agent will do whatever they can to arrive at a contractual agreement by July 15th. Whether they're destined to be successful or not is anyone's guess.
Either way, Dak will be the Cowboys QB in 2020. Obviously, that scenario really isn't in question. ;)

That part's for sure. As for a possible agreement, I wouldn't take no bets unless Jerry caves.

That is exactly what I have been thinking for 6 months. The reason is unless Dak has such an inflated high ego he has to realize he isnt even close to being the best QB in the league and he should of accepted Jerrys first offer. And then for Jerry to put up a second offer even better and he doesnt take it tells me he may not want to be a Cowboy. This length of contract BS and guaranteed money ideas arent enough to stop a contract from getting done. Those things are just minor bumps in the road. One side wants to get the deal done and the other side doesnt. I think Dak wants out.

I might miss my guess but I don't think Dak wants out. I think he's just listening to an agent who says Jerry is going to cave. If Dak is smart, he'll realize his chance for more money is probably better with Jerry than elsewhere.

Plus the fact that he's got a very good team this year with vastly improved coaching. Where else can he go to match all that plus be willing to pay him more than Jerry?

No

And I hope not.

Play on your tag, and prove to everyone we dodged a bullet, while Dak fans cry and point the finger at someone else.

The ones that don't cry, and actually see he's super average, will hide out, either jump on another team, change identity, or pretend they were never a huge Dak fan.

I think the Jones boy get a deal in place right before the deadline. They went all-in on Prescott in 2016...no turning back now.

I agree, unless both sides give way ....which they wont as there's another roll of the dice.

What I would love to know is ..... Bottom line, does Dak WANT to remain with the Cowboys, or is he prepared to go to a lesser team (e.g. Jaguars)?

The reason I ask is that if he doesnt sign by 15th July, he may be forcing the Cowboys out of the negotiation.
well I think he wants to stay a cowboy, but he may also want to play on the tag.
he is going to gamble he and the team have a good season, which if that happens, the contract talks will start again next off season.

I dont think playing on the tag changes the negotiation much. how would it force jones boys out of the negotiation??

If we're prone to believing what both Jerry and Stephen have been saying all along, they're likely to try desperately to get Dak signed. If not, watch for a sign that Dak either wants out or is willing to stick around until his "druthers" are somehow satisfied. Hopefully, it'll all be resolved in due time. If he'll end up playing under the tag, it could easily be another year before this impasse gets settled. Hang in there, folks!

It would make perfect sense that Dak would realize he has it so good here and have already accepted one of the last 2 offers. Unless his ego is getting in the way. I agree the agent is part of the driving force but don't forget the agent works for Dak and at any point Dak could say get it done.

WE save money for the cap if we sign him long term. Why would anyone let him, or want him on the tag? That would hamstring us as far as signing anyone else.ALSO, THE TAG next year would be around 40 mil. NO THANKS! We save money now, and the next 2 years if we do a longer deal. I think he will sign the deal this week. Its all but certain.

Yes people give Prescott too much of a pass if they just blame the agent. As you state, ultimately Prescott makes the decision. An agent is just a puppet.

Because if he signs the tag then it will likely be his last season as a Dallas Cowboy and I want to win the Superbowl - we will not achieve this with Prescott as our QB.

its better to sign him long term for a couple reasons...ONE, if for some reason we want to trade him down the road, we can. If you play him on the tag, we risk losing our investment and getting NOTHING IN RETURN! Second, it saves us several million dollars right now and into the next 2 years. The last year of his deal would be the costly one...year 4. Signing him is just smart and prudent from those standpoints. We have zero leverage if we let him play on the tag. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. If he stinks it up halfway thru the year, at least we would have an option to trade him if we can find a trade partner.

It doesnt change the negotiation, but, it makes it more difficult to get this done next year .....as there's less 'flexibility' on money (Cowboys CANT give a 2nd Tag without restructuring contracts to a really detrimental effect in the future OR with playing scrubs at Safety, CB, LB and Edge Rush).

Similarly cant afford a 2 year Cousins deal.

........IF YOU CUT DOWN THE OPTIONS, YOU CUT DOWN THE CHANCES TO NEGOTIATE.

It shouldnt be a Win/ Lose situation.

You still haven’t graduated elementary school? Does it make you feel better about your obsession with Dak to continue childish name calling When referring to his supporters? The funny thing is it shows you are more obsessed than many of his supporters.
Yet you turn around and demean him. Nice work.

Not taking his side, I just love the irony of people complaining about people acting childish and then do the same.
