No way Jerry cuts him unless he's beyond awful.

He did sign on cutting a first round pick who did show some glimpses after two years...a second round pick in one year isn’t nearly unprecedented.

Jones may want them to give him opportunities to show improvement but if he’s the odd man out, I don’t think Jerry stops a new coaching staff from getting rid of a Marinelli guy.

I mean we have basically addressed our interior DL like he is not on the team.

That is 99% of the problem. He wasn't expected to walk in and produce. We all knew he was a bit of a project. It was a little disappointing season but not completely unexpected especially considering the Marinelli factor.

You beat me to it! I was going to post this article to the forum this morning but didn't get around to it yet.

I can see the writer's point based on McCarthy's comments about roster numbers. If this team does in fact keep just four, Hill could be in some trouble.

Ya but 1 season when he barely played, then cut him. That's insane.

He also wasn't expected to walk in with a bad attitude and spend most of the season inactive while they traded for other candidates either.

Needing development is one thing, being uncooperative and unreceptive to developing is quite another.

hes got to have some trade value-even if its a 6th/7th.
he's young, cap friendly for 4 more years, former 1st round pick.
just dont see us dropping him-some team will take a shot with a low pick

How about Dallas feature him in preseason. Let him take down some sacks and then trade him instead of just cutting him?

If we know about the player's issues, don't you think the rest of a league paid to know, does?

Charlton was a 1st round pick and the word was out on him. So much so that the Cowboys couldn't get even a conditional 7th rounder for him.

Hill's reputation to this point is far worse.

That's what we get for taking a late round talent in the 2nd. And that's what we get when we have non football people in charge. Lame pick. Reminds me of Escobar, not a bad late round pick, but just stupid in the 2nd.

That thinking works when you have a roster that is lacking in talent. When you have a roster like Dallas does now and better players to go forward with, you cut your loses on bad draft picks from the previous coaching staff. Hill does have paths to making the team but they require injuries or holdouts from others or lots of hard work which is foreign to him. If Woods does sign and show up and no major injuries occur on the DL, then they will likely move on. That cut be trade or cut.

Barring a quantum leap recovery from last year, it's entirely possible that Hill is destined to either be cut or traded. The numbers make it so.:omg:

Woods has not signed his offer yet, is it not pass the date for him to do so? I know he is an ERFA, so he plays for Dallas or he doesn't play anywhere unless they release him.
Also Woods' play last season seemed to drop off, as he disappeared a lot as to the previous season.

And if they traded for players, why does this apply to Hill, and not to Woods?

After looking at this same writer's 53 man roster, I disregarded his opinion.
But Hill does have an uphill battle to make the team. He will have to compete and earn his spot. I should not be handed to him with all the competition on the DL now. Especially if Crawford is kept.

Attitude and the old staff selecting him will work against him. Pulling for him, but not expecting too much as of now.
