People need to wait till the actual guarantees and annual salary comes out before wondering if they would want Dak to take that deal. I'm sure the guaranteed money is blowing whatever the Cowboys offered out of the water. Honestly might be double the guaranteed money.

So this should be better for the Cowboys, right? Now Jerry can point to the fact that the best QB in the NFL was willing to play on a longer deal.
If Dak wants to be in Dallas then yes. If he is strictly a bottom dollar guy he could probably wait it out and top 10/400 pretty easily on the open market unless the cap takes a significant hit next year.

Probably is but it would be double the years to make it work too so that's actually a good thing.

Works both ways. The Cowboys will use the # of years to their advantage. Daks agent will use avg salary and guarantees to their advantage. While I'm sure both sides knew Mahomes' deal was in the works, I believe the timing screws up their current negotiations.

Good on Mahomes.

Wasn't interested in these short term deal like some others. In the long run, this will be a steal for KC. Great for them.

Money is clearly not the top priority for Mahomes. Patrick clearly told his agent to take a hike and went 10 years. Good for him.

I'd be ecstatic if I were a Chiefs fan

How can you possibly know this before any numbers have come out? LOL

Things have been so boring lately that someone else signing a contract has made me giddy with excitement.

Haha, if it was another player outside of an existing free agent like Clowney or Griffen would you still be?

Curious to see the numbers but 10 years 400 and 200 guaranteed seems likely. Good for him

Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) Tweeted:
Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have reached agreement on a 10-year -- 10-year! -- contract extension that ties him to Kansas City through the 2031 season, league sources tell ESPN.

D
ak May or may not be happy about this. 10 years gives a team a lot of flexibility though

Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) Tweeted:
Patrick Mahomes had two years remaining on his contract, and he and the Chiefs are adding on 10 more, making it a a new 12-year contract in total.

Love it...…………..Dak and his agent have something to think about.

I agree but unless the Cowboys are willing to offer a similar structure I don't think it changes anything for Dak's negotiations. And I don't think the anti-Dak crowd want Dak signing a ten-year extension.
