Couldn't be happier for all concerned.

Dak and his agent now are relieved from any future doubts about what they should have gotten. No regrets. The market is pretty well set.

And echoing others, the Joneses should be really happy at both the length and the cash involved in the Mahomes deal, pending no big surprises in terms of guaranteed money.

You can’t base anything off Mahomes contract to Dak. One’s a future HOFer barring injury. The other will be a backup in 2-3 years.

I wouldn't go that far. It's more like comparing Michael Jordan to Draymond Green.

Dak's tag at $31.4M could possibly be higher than Mahomes 2020 salary due to Chiefs Signing bonus and 10 year spread:lmao2:

Chiefs will be the next dynasty.

Finally an AFC team I enjoy watching. Props to their FO.
You could well be correct. They said the same thing about the Packers. Rodgers had to wait in the wings for 4 years and was still young when he won his sb, yet he only has one ring. They have a good HC who deserves his ring.

They better keep surrounding him with talent if they want to keep winning sb's.

Mahomes is about to make more in guaranteed money the second the ink dries on his signature than any NFL player has made over the lifetime of any contract ever.

This is a pretty even handed deal for Dallas.
Dak wanted 35M a year and this sets a bar well above that.
But 10 years was a lot to give to make that 40m per year.

The GTD portion will be huge.
I'm guessing at least 225M.
By comparison Tony Romo actually made $127,422,458

Does anyone else get emails from the Cowboys Pro Shop? Got one today with the subject “MAJOR Extension Announcement”. Clicked on it, and it was just extending some sale. That’s so shady/underhanded I immediately unsubscribed.

I have no idea what the money is going to look like here but I'm guessing that Dak is going to look at this deal and probably wish that he'd taken that 35 a year deal.

We'll see what happens.

If true.....

VERY team friendly

Several were saying 5 years, 45-50 mil, then go back for more after 4-5 years.
But not even close.
NFL’s best QB giving his team plenty of wiggle room vs squeezing them for every drop
HOw much money does one man need? Between his salary and endorsements, he won't have to work after football if he doesn't want to.

You do realize they can;t spread a SB over more than 5 years right?
You also realize Pat had 2 more years under contract so had those base salaries already.

Pat will ABSOLUTELY cost less than 31.4M in cap hit THIS YEAR.
But so will Dak.

Lol, QB virtue. Please.

Its more like the KC Front Office paid him exactly what he wanted & it made the negotiation exceedingly easy.

Oh he's getting paid no doubt. Could he have requested a 5 year contract extension then signed another 5 year and made more money? hell yes. Just Tyron signed a 10 year contract which was the richest contract for a tackle at the time. He knew he was giving up money down the road with that contract as well. Dak on the other hand trying to pinch for every penny.

Now they forced to pay. This is great for France and Dak. They thought Mahomes and co. would wait until a year or two from now....they thought they had more time.

Stephen Jones has bungled this (and other recent negotiations) badly. But thankfully for Little Enos, he has a job for life as long as the family owns the team.
