ak May or may not be happy about this. 10 years gives a team a lot of flexibility though

Now they forced to pay. This is great for France and Dak. They thought Mahomes and co. would wait until a year or two from now....they thought they had more time.
This does nothing for them unless they are willing to agree to a very long term deal - otherwise this is a non-comparable contract that will not be able to be used for negotiating.

Oh he's getting paid no doubt. Could he have requested a 5 year contract extension then signed another 5 year and made more money? hell yes. Just Tyron signed a 10 year contract which was the richest contract for a tackle at the time. He knew he was giving up money down the road with that contract as well. Dak on the other hand trying to pinch for every penny.

We'll see what the money looks like. If Maholmes is giving 10 years of team control, you bet your butt he's getting paid for it.

As per Adam Schefter

“There are no official numbers on Patrick Mahomes' 10-year extension just yet, but multiple sources believe it ultimately will be tied to a percentage of the salary cap for each season. The higher the cap goes, the more Mahomes will make.”

The next 10+ days are going to get interesting with Dak. With Mahomes getting a 10 year extension, then it really is a 12 year deal since he has two years left on his rookie contract and the article implied that the average yearly salary will be over $40 million a year, you know $480 million WOW! The funny thing is that in about 5 years people are going to look at it and believe the Chiefs got a helluva a bargain. Will Jerry and Stephen change their minds on the 4 year deal or will they try to offer a 10 year type of deal and see if Dak bites.

The question is also what will the offer the Watson and Jackson be now. Crazy, just crazy.

Wow. Now that’s a man that’s loyal to his franchise. If Dak was offered that, he’d laugh on his way back to his car. What a shame.

Imagine 3 years ago someone telling you Wentz and Goff would sign before Dak. Then Mahomes lol.

LOL, what do you find soooo surprising?
Talent is the key ingredient as without it no mega-deal will be reached!
Only here is Dak considered a top tier QB and I doubt if you Dak-Trolls pool your monies together you can give Dak and Todd what they want contract wise.:muttley:
Thank the Jerry Gods he gave Dak a pity tag as a going-away present!

If they offered DAK the same deal he would have signed immediately.

KC front office got the largest extension is league history done in a month.

You do realize they can;t spread a SB over more than 5 years right?
You also realize Pat had 2 more years under contract so had those base salaries already.

Pat will ABSOLUTELY cost less than 31.4M in cap hit THIS YEAR.
But so will Dak.
Yes, I do. You are correct.

I expect the back end of Mahomes contract to be fluff with about 2-3 team friendly contract adjustments over 1st 6yrs of 10 year extension.

As far as Dak. I think he'll play on tag

I would too! But, I wonder why he wasn’t offered that kind of money?

Someone said it in here, it’s not the fans but the owner who decides which player and how much they’ll be paid. Plainly obvious but you got it right on the bullseye with that one.

I said from the onset of Dak coming to a contract, he needed to take a 10 yr deal. He said hes looking for a future to be set. 300-350mil over 10 yrs will do it. Going back to the yr Dak was drafted those who have posted with me in the draft forum know i wanted and had Dak drafted in round 4. But i had also said i really believed it was going to be Dak in 2016 or Mahomes in 2017. Both were great leaders in college who took their teams from nothing and put them on the map. People talk about Dak being a liability to the team, While Mahomes is the star of the nfl. The only difference IMO is the coaching. People are going to see the difference in Dak with a coaching like McCarthy.

I wish Dak could see a deal like this and come to his senses that Dallas is a team who is going to put their QB first before any other player. Hes listening to his agent who is eyeing future clients. Because we are in a time where the nfl revenue is bout to explode. So agents are trying not jump because players are watching.

Thank you my good sir! Good to hear from you, by the by. Hope you're safe and healthy.
Yessir, you as well.

Bumming a bit because I don't think this season is going to happen, and I want to see CeeDee.

Patrick Mahomes is an MVP, Super Bowl winner and the best QB in the NFL.

If he signs for 10 years at about $400 million, that’s great for the Cowboys.

Dak can’t sniff his accomplishments and isn’t near the talent. Give him 10 years for $350 million and let’s do this. Great for Dak, great for Dallas.

8 year extension, signed in 2014. He had two years remaining on his entry level deal, 4th year and 5th year option.

Right, so it was a 10-year agreement at the time of signing.

I have no idea what the money is going to look like here but I'm guessing that Dak is going to look at this deal and probably wish that he'd taken that 35 a year deal.

We'll see what happens.
I don't see how if reports are over $400 mil for Mahomes.
