It is true there's less backs carrying the ball 300+ times a season. In the 90s really up until the 10s we sometimes saw 10+ backs do it, while today its 1 or 2 at most. However, the fundamentals of the running game aren't much different, teams just do it less often. However, when teams play the Cowboys they know Zeke will get a lot of runs and just like Emmitt teams game plan against the Cowboys to stop the run.

I don't think it's a stretch to compare Emmitt and Zeke's career starts. Regardless I think Emmitt's is better.

It's totally different. You don't have Safeties playing as close to the LOS and you don't have guys like Roy Williams roaming the secondary to punish you. LBs aren't the same. It's just not the same.

But as I said, you can't stop people from comparing the two, even though it's not fair to either one of them, so I guess I will wish you guys luck.

Anyways, ill go away for good. Man up and take the bet or shut the hell up

So far you have two posters saying you have burner accounts. How do you expect for me to prove it? All I can do is show you the list of 3 posters who like your posts even when they make no sense and that's about 90% of the time.

But rushing efficiency is not remotely the same, same with total TDs.

The average yard per carry in 1994 was 3.7125, the average yards per carry last season was 4.35. If you compare that to 1994 that's a 17.17% increase in average efficiency. If you use Emmitt's 4.5 yards per carry, you would expect Zeke to rush for 5.27 yards per carry.

Emmitt had more TDs. This is despite the teams last year scoring 2.6 touchdowns per game, and only 2.28 TDs per game in 1994. Zeke should have had 57 rushing TDs.

You bring up good points on rushing efficiency, teams that do it less, naturally will benefit when they do run as opponents aren't expecting it as much from a single ball carrier. Though teams generally run less the gameplan in stopping the Cowboys isn't too different today vs 1994. We would have to see stats on stacked boxes Zeke faced vs Emmitt though to see who actually had the rushing advantage. All I'm saying is it isn't crazy to compare those two eras among bell cow runners, especially when playing in systems with similar philosphies.

For the record Emmitt gets my nod either way.

In what way is "honored he 'believes' that" not a "he's just saying that" type of statement? It's not a confirmation of what Emmitt said at all. Not only that but he follows it up with "I have a lot to prove." If he thought he was better, what would he have to prove? You're usually fairly even-minded but come on. I'm not saying people even need to like Zeke but this is clearly a case of not wanting to see humility at all no matter what he says.
Okay, your point's well taken. There's a sense of humility there. Originally when I said you'll never see that type of humility with him, I was saying I don't think he'd ever initiate the type of statement Emmitt did. Responding in kind is somewhat reactionary, but you're right, I closed my mind a bit there.

You really can't read, huh?

That was the NFL's average yards per carry, not Emmitt's. You didn't have to do the math the twitter link shows what Emmitt's ypc was. Lol.

Funny thing is you took such offense to Emmitt's number, and not Zeke's.
I read your post the same way, because you said, "in Emmitt's first four years", which at first glance seems as if you're saying that was Emmitt's average. Now that you've clarified, I see it's not your fault...but it's an understandable mistake.

No worries. Like I said, you're a pretty fair-minded guy so it surprised me. But we all have our days. I have mine.

And for the 100th time, Dez did NOT catch it in Green Bay!!!

See? It's like Tourette's with me.

I want to agree because my admiration for Emmitt has no ceiling but , LIKE the QB position, RB shouldn't be measured by championships. Zeke has done his part and the team is a much more dangerous offensive threat because he is on it. He is a well fitting part of the puzzle. The missing pieces of the puzzle have been the QB & coaching. Zeke's only detriment is the amount of money he demands and that ain't his fault ... it's Jerry's. 'Murica !

I don't think it was a catch under the rules at the time either....but realistically, it was a catch.

Emmitt did not start week 1 his rookie season and was used sparingly. THe receiving stat is surprising.

I remember I was at the Dallas-NY Giants game maybe early 1990's in New York..Score tied, late or overtime, Smith hurt his shoulder and yet Aikman kept giving Emmitt the ball where he rammed it down the Giants throat enough to give us great field position for the winning field goal.
Just imagine Zeke with a bad shoulder doing that..He gets a hangnail and calls it a "tricky" situation.

*waits for the ignorant “Emmitt had two rings” comment*
He was league mvp and Super bowl mvp in the same season. He did make good on his goal of being the Michael Jordan of the NFL when he accomplished that. @WillieBeamen I love you bro but Emmitt had a two all-time great signature regular season games in the Halloween showdown with Philly and The Cold Shoulder game. And then the mvp performance against Buffalo. He was also dominant in the playoffs vs. San Francisco and green Bay in the divisional round.

On the field performance in marquee games matters. And Emmitt really delivered especially when he had his feet under him in the super bowl years.

Zeke has also had great performances and I love him but I would take Emmitt's production if I know the end results that I am getting. Zeke definitely had a better rookie season.

Yes ES but he also had 2 other HOF on his side of the ball and the best TE in the game along with B. Jones from SF. How many HOF's on this O side now?
