Not sure if its been posted.

Contract has $106 guaranteed and the first 5 years are worth 173. . . or $35m per year.

Jerry is going to be shoving this contract up Dak's agents rear end. He should take that contract, subtract about 1.5m per year and publicly offer it to Dak. Same exact terms with just slightly less money. Its actually very team friendly.

I am confident that Stephen is perusing said deal with extreme thoroughness. Probably saying to himself "why didn't i think of that"

So in your world a team that brings in $500 million per year shouldn't give a fair cut to the guy who is most responsible for it.

Let the suits have all the millions, even though no one buys a ticket to watch the suits.

In 10 years Mahomes will be gone and the Chiefs will bring in fans regardless. Fans are loyal to teams, not players.

Players are getting paid plenty, no one should feel sorry for them. Its the owners and the teams that have built the product and taken the risks in business. All the players do is stay in shape, half of them, and show up for the games. Its a part time job for Gods sake.

Normally I don’t get bent out of shape about QB contracts because the prices go up and up. A lot of times these contacts have no bearing on performance. But when you get a contact as absurd as Mahomes just got, then all bets are off. It’s not like Mahomes is making $2 mil more than the last guy that got inked.

So it really becomes more about are these QBs on the same playing field. And that answer is no.

No one thought Matt Stafford was the best when he got paid to make him highest paid so no it doesn't really become what you think it is. As I said, be flexible when it goes down. Less stress.

Basically, let's start over?

Sure or franchise him for 2 years. If I’m not mistaken, you weren’t a fan of Romo. You wanted to cut bait for a long time. Why are sold on Dak? He’s 1-2 in the playoffs. QB contracts can break an organization. No way would I pay him anything like Mahomes. Would I pay what Wentz, Goff got, sure.

or Cam Newton, Wentz, or Goff for that matter. But to jump from 32 Mil to 40-45 mil per season is insane and Dak isn’t that type of generational QB.

I’m sorry, but no man who plays a sport is worth half a billion dollars. I don’t care if he sees that amount of money or not, it’s just ridiculous.

And for all those “it’s the market” guys on here, save your breath.
You're worth what someone is willing to pay you. Hence, Mahomes is worth over $450 million. Its just like those stupid rare coins that people collect. I couldn't care less, but someone is willing to pay 100s of dollars for that kind of thing, so that's what its worth.

Dak isn’t Mahomes and he’s not worth a contract even remotely close to it. The Mahomes contract is an outlier. Let him play on the franchise tag and find the next QB in the draft....and go back to sucking!
Fixed it for you (in bold).^^^

Except why offer it then and risk having it taken and everything I said come into play? That also makes no rational sense. There is no good reason for it unless it was not the entire story.

The only rational explanation to that entire story is to believe a Cowboys source put that source out there to try and sucker the fans into turning against Dak temporarily to put public pressure on him to lower his net asking price. Nothing else makes any rational sense. If Dak was not taking 5 years and was 100% sure he wanted 4 then he would not have given a number for a 5th year because all that situation does is make it harder to negotiate a deal which is clearly in his interest to have. The only rational explanation is that the number is right but the structure is a lie.

It makes perfect sense as to why he would do that (if he indeed did ask for that). You simply are ignoring the benefits to Dak if he signed a 5 year deal with a huge payday in that 5th year.

It gives him all the power. 1) He either collects a huge cash payment in 2024 in excess of $45MM, with a new signing bonus coming the following year, 2) Dallas is forced to renegotiate that 5th year because the cap hit would be too big and therefore, he'd get what he wanted all along - a new contract after 4 years 3) Dallas just cuts him after 4, which again gives him what he wants, FA after 4 years.

He's simply looking to leverage the Cowboys here. He's making that 5th year so unpalatable for them that they hopefully cave and give him the 4 year contract he wants. I am not sure how you aren't getting this.

This is an incredible deal for the Chiefs and is actually a bad deal for the rest of the QB's in the NFL.

Mahomes has effectively capped the market for the next 10 years on the QB. You CANNOT pay anyone more than Mahomes 40 million.

Dak should jump at 35 million for 5 years.

Bingo!!!!!!!!!......exactly what I said in another thread couple weeks ago. He would likely cap the QB for quite a while
. I mean even IF say Jackson, Watson or Dak wins a Super Bowl before signing a new deal, they still won't get his money coz they can't match his talent. I'm guessing a young QB would have to win at least 2 Super Bowls to ask for his kind of money. In other words, the QB market will likely go sideways the next 3-5 years IMO.

And this is why everyone who didn't want to extend Dak *last year* was an idiot. And then most of that grouped doubled down on the idiocy. We tried to tell you, this had to get done before Mahomes or else Dak's price would go up. $35 million in now a bargain and we are likely looking at $37-$38 million
I love my team. I've been a fan of Dak since his college days but Dak is NOT Mahomes. Mahomes is a game changer. Did you watch the Superbowl last year? for 31/2 qtrs they held him in check and then you could just see the switch flip and Mahomes said, "enough is enough". And then he proceeded to shred the 49's defense. Dak has never been that good. Not on his best day. I will root for Dak until he is no longer a Cowboy but anyone comparing him to Mahomes is smoking crack.

If the guarantees is 120 Million for 4 years Dak should take it. The deal is getting done.
