What longterm Cowboys problems aren’t the fault of Jerry or Garrett?

The vast majority of blame for Cowboys failure since 1995 has been laid at the feet of Jerry, and with good reason. Garrett, too, played a huge role in the Cowboys failure of 2010-2019.

That being said, though, there have to be some problems that aren't Jerry's fault and lie more with players, staff, or non-Garrett coaches. What might they be?

Is is possible for a team to have a long term problem that’s not the owners fault?
I guess maybe a stadium but I can’t think of any others
I mean as the owner you make all the decisions or you hired the people who do

This is my take. It's mostly Jerry's fault. And I say this as one of the few people that actually like our owner. But he's the one that gave us a bunch of crap coaches. I don't put much blame on Garrett because it was Jerry that let him stay as long as he did. You think Garrett likes to lose? He's just not that good and Jerry failed to recognize it for far too long.

Look at our coaches since Jimmy left. One good coach in Parcells. He took a Quincy Carter led team to the playoffs at 10-6. He created that '07 team. Besides him and Jimmy, garbage coaches and garbage results. Yes I am including Switzer.

I guess you can’t control something like a key player like Sean Lee getting hurt—over and over again. But if as the owner you say that you are in charge of everything from Socks to jocks and the blame for everything lies fully on you

I blame Rowdy. He shows up in 1996. And we know the history from there.
Then again, Jerry allows him to hang around. So yes, ultimately it is on Jerry.

They all fall on the shoulders of Jerry....but on the flip side to the same extent you criticize him you have to credit Jerry for the good things going on in dallas.

Fans and local media for not making enough of a stink to run losers like Garrett out of town and force Jerry's hand.

Jerry Jones has been trying to find the Next Jimmy Johnson, and then wants to show the world that he can win a Super Bowl as owner, GM and High Exhaulted Mystic Ruler ..Like someone once said, "Jerry Jones rather lose His way than win someone else's way".

The Cowboys are the most $ucce$$ful NFL franchise in virtually every measurable way — except for on-the-field results.

Last time I checked, the last part pretty much falls on the owner, the GM and the HC.

The problem is not gaining the understanding the cleat, cleats situation, understanding of the players situation, understanding of jocks and socks as Jerry Dumbo GM Jones at the 0:01:25 mark of this video explains in this video.

Players poor work ethic and a sense of entitlement because they play for the Cowboys.....that said, that is probably Garrett and Jerry's fault too. I got nothing.

Who is MORE responsible....
  • The gun or the man firing it?
  • The car or the person driving it?
  • The puppet or the puppeteer?
  • The soldier fighting in a losing battle or the general who drew up the plans?
  • Food or the fat man eating it?
  • Alcohol or the drunk?
  • The dog who escaped the yard and bites someone or the owner who neglected the fence?
MOST importantly....who is more responsible for the Cowboys near quarter century lack of playoff success?
  • Is it the 5 head coaches in the last 24 years, or the ONE owner/President/GM/Chief Jock officer who is most responsible?
There is no one but Jerral Wayne Jones to place responsibility on for any of results this team has had.

Never forget: Jerry would rather be the face of a losing team.

Than the obscure owner of a winning team.

I concluded years ago that Jerry calculates winning and losing at his bank, not on the field. If so, he's the reigning world champion of sports entertainment franchise owners, I think around 5 years running. Maybe more.
