I still believe you play him on the tag and if he plays like Mahomes, you pay him like Mahomes. Dak hasn't had one year as good as 2018 or 2019 by Mahomes, and came his closest as a rookie. See if he can elevate himself to that level and pay him accordingly.

And I'm not saying that to be critical of Prescott. I just would like to see what he can do under a real coach before figuring out if he's closer to Wentz/Goff level or Wilson/Mahomes level.

And before anyone says he's already on Wilson/Mahomes level, Wilson had a 106.3 rating last year and 110.9 the year before and Mahomes had 105.3 and 113.8. Dak's last two years were 99.7 and 96.9. His best is 104.9.

I was gonna say...

Dak is at most 70% the player SB champion Mahomes is. 70% of 50 mil/year is 35 mil/year.

Still think Dak has all the leverage? Just because a team is willing to shell out 50 mil a year for a top 3 QB doesn't mean another would be willing to offer 35-40 mil/year for the 6-10th best QB in the league. That's not how it works.

One things for sure Dak is a savvy business man. Todd France and CAA were hired by Dak and his brothers to get them to this position if Dak did his part.....

I really wonder what the Cowboys initial offer was??? In hindsight could be very insulting....

mahomes deal is bad for dak.

Had our WRs caught half of their league-leading 46 dropped passes last season, Dak's passer rating would easily have been above 105, easily surpassed 5k yards passing and he and the team would easily have been in the playoffs.

Every quarterback has to deal with the hand they've been dealt. None of us can say what the results would have been if Prescott had been in Mahomes' or Wilson's shoes and vice versa. All I know is for him to get Mahomes/Wilson money, he needs to put up Mahomes/Wilson numbers.

I'm eager to see if he can do that under McCarthy.

Not sure I agree with all of that. A 99 rating compared to a 106 is not 30 percent different, but I do agree that Mahomes is top three right now while Dak is 6-10th best. It appears to me he's wanting to be paid in the top five range. For both Dallas and him, I think it's best to give it a year under a new coach to see if he deserves in that range.

Dak actually put up better numbers than both Wilson and Mahomes this past 2019 season. Where were you not to notice this?

What world are you living in?

Prescott 65.1 percent completion percentage, 30 TDs, 11 ints., 99.7 rating

Mahomes 65.91, 26 TDs, 5 ints., 105.3 rating

Wilson 66.09, 31 TDs, 5 ints., 106.3 rating

I like Dak and think he's a very good quarterback, but he doesn't quite measure up to Mahomes and Wilson right now. Maybe he will this year.

Absolutely should have taken it.

In fact in present day dollars, Mahomes per year rate is about what Dak was offered.,
About 480 for 12 years (10+2)
Assume 35/yr for 6 years, then 45/yr for the next 6
Daks was offered 35/yr for 5...so even better

Players don't get paid the same just because they play the same position as someone else.

They do have their salaries based on that. Thanks for checking in for the 1st time in 30 years!

What numer would that be, passing yards?

Wilson 31 TDs, 5 INTs, rating 106.3.
Mahomes 26 TDs, 5 INTs(112 less attempts), rating 105.3.
Prescott 30 TDs, 11 INTs, rating 99.7.

Wilson and Mahomes both had better years.

After reading all the details of the Mahomes deal, it is Mahomes who bet on himself for 12 years because after the 1st 3 years of the deal the Chiefs can get out of it pretty cheap at anytime they want

You should read it again. At no point can they get out of his contract anywhere near cheap. It's a ridiculous dead cap at almost any time.

No, they don't. Top tier starters generally get paid more than 2nd tier starters.

Thanks for not having a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dak passed for more yards than both, more TDs than Mahomes and just 1 TD less than Wilson.

Look at numbers that truly tell how good a QB is among his contemporaries...

Dak for sure beats out Wilson in all...and most against Mahomes.

Nope!

Look at these numbers that better tell how good a QB performed compared to his contemporaries.

Dak beat Wilson on every statistical number...and most against Mahomes.

Why do people talk about $40 million/year with Dak? Outside the report Dak wants a premium for one season if he were to agree to a 5th year I haven’t seen any evidence Dak has been asking for that much.

I have said the same thing - no proof that 40 mil a year has ever been offered or demanded. I was replying to America's Cowboy who said that 38-40 mil a year is now the minimum after Mahomes 10 year contract.

Yeah, Dak is a 1 playoff win out of 3 playoff games QB because of...???

If you don't know the answer to that question, you simply have not been paying attention.

Dak deserves big pay.

I've said the same things that QB get to much blame for bad seasons and to much credit for good seasons. That said, Prescott has not done enough of anything to justify paying him the 2nd most money in the NFL. Again I like Prescott but he's not done anything close to justifying paying him the 2nd most in the NFL.
