I think the DL will be the best we've seen in years. Simply from adding McCoy & Poe to work with Tank. That's 3 upper tier DL right there and if Smith & Gregory hit (I believe they will) then we've really got something going.
has gregory even been reinstated yet?

The DL looks pretty stout. Add Gregory and it gets even better. DL, WR, RB, QB could all vie for the top.

The best positional groups all lie on the offensive side of the football: QB, RB, OL, WR are all stacked units. Time to give more resources to the defensive side of the football moving forward.

In no particular order: QB, RB, WR, OL, and LB*.

I think #1 is wide receiver. Cooper is a #1 receiver, Gallup is a good #2 that possibly has more upside and Lamb has #1 potential.
Then they depth behind them isn't bad at all for guys competing for the 4/5/6 spots.

Then toss up between QB and RB for #2.

#4 would be linebackers, on paper anyways. We have two starters with high floors, with some questions, and the depth behind them in Lee and Thomas are solid backup/spot starters if need be.

I still see the offensive line as a strong group.
The left tackle is always in the running for being one of the best LT's, the right guard has been an allpro every year in the league and the Right Tackle has blossomed greatly last year to be known as one of the better RT's in the league.
3 set very good to elite pieces in the unit.
They have a solid competition at center hopefully, and Connor Williams is at least an average guard.

For the longest time it was been the OL. Now with TFred out to pasture and the interior OL in flux the picture is not quite so clear.

What do you guys think is the top unit going into the new season.

QB and WR are clearly the strongest. Then I would say RB and Oline.

QB, RB,WR,OL and LB. Given the players Cowboys brought in on DL I think there is a legit chance that this group will be pretty good. How McCarthy uses this talent and how he manages to bring them together as a team all focused on 1 goal will be the big key.

Does the new coaching staff and philosophy count? Well as for the biggest improvement anyway.

WR, RB, DL listed 3rd as for a few unknowns like RDE play, OL as it is still in tact (except those down on Willams at LG) with the exception at C. But there are some options there.

Could be some potential at CB, but with all the possible changes, we will need to see it on the field. S still biggest concern and questions. TE also, though it could be decent. Jarwin knowing he is the sure starter now, but behind him, Bell and Schultz could be better depth than many think.

LB, just depends on health.

For the starters...
WRs (if Lamb is close to what we hope, this a top 3 group)
OLine (still a top 5 group)
RBs (top 5-10 group)
QBs (top 8-12 group)

The good news is that the core defensive groups seems to be improving

I'd say WR, but going into last year I was convinced LB was our best position so maybe I'm not the right guy to ask...

With 3 of the 5 starters still having the potential of probowl years i'll go with OL. With looney and williams being atleast average they could be pushed if mcGovern or Biadasz have a great camp.

WR for sure.

But the crazy thing is the DL could be anything from the best position group all the way to the worst. Cross your fingers on guys like Aldon Smith and Randy Gregory.
WR for sure
D line is a odd situation
Best DT guys we’ve had in Years
DE has some question marks but if things fall right it could be very good
If a healthy Dlaw can get help on the other side it could be a sight to see
