They actually have wet dreams of our starting qb getting injured so they can see andy dalton suck lol

I like Dalton actually. And with protection he can get the job done. I wouldn't want him as our #1 guy, but for a few games he can do it. Especially in this offense and this HC.

But yah, they love Dalton, but hate Dak. Just more of the troll logic.

The Cowboys official site has essentially posted an article saying Dalton is a QB1 whos suited to the new offense...........a few days before Daks deadline .....

Sounds like a shot across the bow to Dak re sulking if he has to play on the tag. A pro media team would not do this by accident.

Here we go . . . Another Angry Man.

Hating on Dalton when you should be rejoicing and then projecting on me what I feel.

You couldn't just agree Dalton is a good thing, could you?

The back-up status could change very quickly when you consider Dak's many flaws and his failures to score against good defenses.
Now for these angry Dak-Trolls who want to believe that Big Mike and Jerry will just sit there when Dak is stinking it up ....good luck with that !!! :muttley:
Personally I believe that he was brought in to start as Jerry has come to grips with the reality that Dak simply is holding our team back big time!
If you doubt the above just post me a copy of Dak's new long term contract....
No one is bigger than the glory of the STAR...not even imposter Prescott!

According to Bucky, Dalton is Taylor made for the Cowboys.

Can I get a :yourock:from everyone.

Lets get a 100% positive reponse rate on this.

He's a Cowboy QB and that's a good thing. Si o' No?
The main asset of Dalton is that he is just as motivated as Dak if not more.

He is looking for his next big deal just like Dak is.

So that changes expectations.

No longer should we play like Daks breakable along with our ability to compete should he go down.

This means to me Dallas can go ahead and use Dak better in the running game to make some critical plays he might not otherwise do trying to protect his health.

Dak is a big strong guy who can take it. Dalton can step in if needed and we should be able to win much easier than any of us think.

I'm not angry what so ever, I'm just correcting lies with the truth. Dalton will warm the bench and then off to another team next season with a new contract.

Hey Joe.

I think the true beauty of this signing will be the comp pick when he leaves.

For some reason I'm reminded of the late season signing of
Bernie Kosar, back in the 90s. Except for the obvious difference
of having Dalton for a full season.

Example:
Dak's shoulder injury in week 16.
If we had someone like Dalton last year, he starts the following week
and likely wins the game. Dak gets to rest and rehab then starts the
Wild Card weekend.

Perfect fit! His butt circumference fits the Cowboys benches perfectly.

There has been so many threads in past seasons extolling the virtues of a backup QB. However, when they have been called upon to replace the starter, it's a nightmare..

The Cowboys backups for the past 9 seasons:

Stephen McGee
Kyle Orton
Brandon Weeden
Matt Cassel
Kellen Moore
Mark Sanchez

A combined 2-17.

Why would Dalton be different considering he's coming off his worst season? We aren't getting the quick strong 25 year old version. Dalton will turn 33 halfway through the season, that includes some tough mileage.

Now with that said, I want more than anything else to be proven wrong should that occasion arise. I would certainly root for him, I am a Dallas Cowboy fan. I would just be a rather less optimistic Dallas Cowboy fan.

Then again, what are the chances? Dak is one of the more, if not most, durable QB's in the NFL.

Fans hereabouts who'd like to believe Dak is invulnerable to injury are sorely mistaken. He had a shoulder injury just last season that hampered him in the late game vs. Philly. If that were to happen again, we'd all be fortunate to have Andy Dalton available. He's definitely good enough to come in handy in such a situation. It was one of the wisest moves our FO made this offseason, imho. We should all give due credit in this instance.
Oh, that shoulder got more blame than just the Eagles loss.

Yet people blame losses last year on his injured shoulder, so why not have a starting caliber backup available?

Lol... I love the "butt circumference" quip!
I may steal it, respectfully.

I guess I'm one of the few who thinks we could still win with Dalton.

Don't get me wrong as Dak is the better quarterback however it's not by some astronomical difference where it would matter. Dak is by no means a Wilson or Mahomes in those regards. Dalton surrounded by this amount of talent is more than adequate.

Rather spend on the defense as we are still missing key pieces. Defense has been the Achilles heel for a long time.

Yes Dak > Dalton

Half of the guys I mentioned were "starting caliber".

i favor homegrown backups. That is, a QB should be drafted about every three years, in various rounds. In fact, even with Dak, I wouldn't. mind a 2nd or 3rd rounder as long as their value lay in that area.

Low pay, but with potential. Use them as the backup but with potential to compete. They could start out as the 3rd team with the addition of more players this season. Then use they move up to 2nd team after a few seasons. They would make great future trade bait.

Our team seems to be very bad at drafting backup QBs. The one time they got it right, they made him the starter.

This team has a real issue drafting QB's. That's no lie.
They lucked into Romo. They lucked into Dak.
Otherwise, if it wasn't a Number 1 pick... they slummed it hardcore.

Theoretically, that's how it's supposed to work but we'll never know for sure about what could have been but it does speak to what can be. It's good that we have an insurance policy that covers the possibility of Dak going down.

It makes no difference how dependable and experienced he is, his backside is still never leaving the bench until its time to head for the locker room.
You discount the possibility of injury to dak. Hope it never happens, but if it does, great to have a good backup. Chance favors the preferred mind.
