Yes, they'll use multiple fronts - and that's a considerable change from JG/Marinelli. But the 3-4 vs. 4-3 distinction is largely irrelevant.

Think about what you said. You said the "base" defense is only used 20% of the time and that means that 80% of the time they're not. So a defense that they're in only 20% of the time is their "base" defense? As far as the question of a team that uses 4 down linemen as their base defense, they probably use that 75% - 80% of the snaps. They may swap a LB for a DB more often, but to say that a team that uses 4 down linemen only do that 20% of the time is just silliness.

Is Odessa Permian still any good? Haven't kept up with HS football. I remember 25 years ago there were always at the top in the USA Today poll.
