Also, it's possible to ask for more than $35 and less than $40.

He could have. Reports also stated he is playing hardball and wants to be the highest paid QB. But that ain't happening either.

Dak just needs to be realistic. He should be happy with getting around 33 to 35.

He wants 4 years..not 5..its well-reported what the holdup is..it's not 40m

Reports also said that Dak's camp is not willing to negotiate unless he gets to be the highest-paid QB in the league.

Yes, Dak wants 4 years only and asked that if he has a 5th-year option he wants in the ballpark of around 40 million.

I like Dak. But I don't think he is worth paying anywhere over 35 million.

If that was true then now he will have to refigure some things. Nobody in this league is paying him 45+ a year.

If Dak and Dallas don't agree to an extension, both sides lose.

Dak may get his massive contract elsewhere but it is a huge gamble that he will end up on a winning team and we all know how coaches and offensive schemes can either help or hurt QBs. If Dak trends downward, he more than likely doesn't cash in on a 2nd massive contract 4 or 5 years from now. Let's face it, Dak is a good QB but I think even the supporters (myself included) know that it is possible he could take a step back if Cooper or Smith go down. Not to mention, Dallas is a spotlight team and being successful in Dallas can produce huge endorsement deals.

Dallas won't have to commit and pay long term money to a QB but it will also mean they will have to fill a major void in the next season or two.

Both sides have to give a little to get this deal done and if no agreement is made, then everyone loses.

Dak faces bigger downside risk by not signing, IMO. There's serious extra health risk and cap risk from Voldemort and the NFL's involvement with politics.

Going with the Kirk Cousins strategy makes some sense in a world where the future's so bright, you gotta wear shades. That's not the world we live in right now.

If Dak doesn't get a deal, I consider that a huge WIN for the Cowboys. Let him go set behind an average OL with less than talented WR and RB and let him prove that he is worth it, much like he didn't do in 2018 for the first 8 games when our WR core was not that great and our OL was just average and Dak was every bit in the bottom 3rd in the league in QBs. Don't think he threw for over 250 yards in any of the first 8 games that year.. yea that's the guy we should give 40 million a year to.

Then why has he turned down the Cowboys at 35 million? Talk has it he wants to be paid the highest QB in the league.
He wants 4 years instead of 5, but he wants similar guarantees regardless

6 more days.
Guess we'll see. Maybe he just plays on the tag

I have read zero reports that he wants to be the highest paid. Where have you read that?

Pretty sure he's our QB long term.

But yes, he would very hard-pressed to ever find a better setup offensively than he has in Dallas.

In 73 "Dak Sucks" threads, duhh...

The deal will get done early next week, no doubt.

Players dont give two craps about which team they are on..dak will get paid somewhere..

You think Mahomes doesn't care?

A lot of players care where they play.

Jerry finds a way to screw up a season every year it seems. Zeke, Emmitt etc. he finds a way to keep Dallas fans groaning. We don't know what the actual number or years are but just get it done! Why every big contract in Dallas besides Romo has to go down to the final hour?

History has shown us that any average QB can look great with the pieces around them. The Cowboys have stacked offensive personnel, there is no reason to pay elite money to a QB that is not Elite. Andy Dalton, who IMO isn't all that great, probably in the average range, could light it up with our roster. The examples are there. Cam Newton and the Panthers go 15-1. How great is he? Jim Plunket won two super bowls as a backup QB. The list goes on and on. The Cowboys need to move on from Prescott after this season unless they can come up with a deal that benefits both the Cowboys and Dak. Not just Dak.
