The offensive skill positions lost two starters via free agency in Randall Cobb and Jason Witten.

Cobb was considered more of a slot only type of WR with good run after the catch abilities, his biggest issue over the last few years was his durability.

Jason Witten probably should of retired a few years ago. He is still sure handed, but offers little to nothing yards after the catch abilities. He is more of a liability as a blocker now, where in his prime was considered excellent in that area at his position. It's sad to see a legend aging, but father time remains undefeated.

The Cowboys invested their 1st rd pick on arguably the best receiver in the draft, a WR class that many thought was the most deep in years. Lamb as a unique skill set, his biggest strength is his run after the catch abilities. He is a receiver that has the versatility to line up anywhere and be a threat.

Blake Jarwin signed with the team as an undrafted free agent TE. He is a former WR that has transitioned to the TE position. Hasn't seen too many snaps over his career, but they liked him enough to not only protect him from signing with the Eagles, but gave him a contract extension. In my opinion, Jarwin was seldom used due to his poor inline blocking abilities. He is more of an modern age big WR, playing the TE position. Many TE's around the league are considered poor, inline blockers, but remain on the field due to being big, mismatch players in the passing game. Jarwin fits this profile and certainly will offer more run after the catch abilities then the departed Jason Witten.

The Cowboys have a third weapon that was on the roster last season, but was under utilized in Tony Pollard. Coming into the league he was a jack of all trades type of back, one who can certainly carry the football, but was an excellent space player in the passing game. His skill set is similar to that of former Cowboy Felix Jones, but more stronger/more durable. Some many say he is a poor man's Alvin Kamara.

You would think MM/Moore will design personnel groups to take advantage of his three top receivers on the field at the same time. That leaves 1 other spot where they can have a Jarwin, Pollard or even another WR in the formation.

Pollard on the field gets me most excited with the personnel grouping. How do teams defend the Cowboys if Cooper/Pollard in the slot, Gallup/Lamb on the outside and Zeke in the backfield. Do they use more of a nickel/dime package? This would make them susceptible against the run and Zeke Elliot. Do they keep an extra linebacker on the field? Who does he cover? Jarwin also can create mismatches. MM/Moore must be licking their chops at all the possibilities!!

The alignment with 3 WR's and 2 RB's with no TE's? I very much like that formation. If they go with the 3 LBer formation ten you can motion out Pollard into the slot and spread them out and take advantage of the pass.

If they show a nickel or dime, then you can pound them with the two backs, one coming out of the backfield blocking.

With regards to the OL being weaker. That's a wait and see.

i hope to maintain a unit that was 2nd in NFL in least sacks allowed. That's a helluva feat to be so proud of.
While i am also hoping new OL coach Joe Philibin can revamp the run game to make it more of a stretch-play capability
of opening up more cutback lanes for the RBs.
Whether it involves more positioning or zone scheme vs man up mauling per Columbo, so long that it proves to work.

Top notch pass protection and stretch play running lanes for more splash run possibilites is what i am aiming for.

Three roles would have to be settled to reach that plateu;
it will be harder to replace Fredrick's leadership, experience and ability to adjust. He could recognize fronts,
bltizes and game stunts and make calls to adjust accordingly.
Although physically it was clear that he just wasn't near the All pro level he used to be when it came to mauling
and getting out on the LBs on the second level like he used to.

- But if he's clearly fully recovered, i'm not as worried with rookie Tyler Biadasz starting immediately as i think he will get better
as the season goes. and he's accomplished a pure center with plenty collegian accolades to his credit to be introduced
and trusted early on.

- it's yet to be determined who the starters will be in the interior LG, that's also an role that i'll be keying on as the season goes
for one it's at what McGovern can show in camp, and it's what Williams will be able to maintain his health as he's missed time
with knee injuries his first two years in the NFL. At the top of his game, he's an above average OG.

- McGoven was highly thought of and a surprise high pick by many observers at that time.
Thats' what prompt many to assume Williams will be eventually moved outside to RT, allowing Collins to depart in FA.
But that story clearly changed big time. i trust the scouting staff with McGovern and only a lack of experience would concern me,
but OG should be an easier transition.

- i can easily live with Tyron and Collins on the outside, but we have to see what Cam Irving gives us as a backup utility OT.
A former 1st round pick, we will need him direly when the Tyron injuries hit as if usual the case yearly. IF he can give us what
Jeremy Parnell gave us when Doug Free went down, that would be an elation.

- We may have the best interior reserve help we've had in decades since Ron Stone and John Gesek were reserves here.
With one of the Conners, Looney, Brandon Mcknight and even Irving in a pinch.

It's pick your poison for any defense!

If you're thinking Pollard won't be effective and can't physically overpower smaller "nickel " defenders, that's is where i will disagree
with this. He was breaking tackles from LBs with the limit chances he received in running the ball , primarily vs Dolphins and Rams.
i think some continue to underestimate his lower body strength, ability to run between the tackles effectively and finish runs strongly going down forward. Fact is, i am never worried about losing ground with Pollard as a ball carrier.
Zeke is just on another level.

Just saying Zeke is the more physical runner who would force defenses to keep bigger personnel on the field.

And again Zeke's physicality is on another level.
But not to say that Pollard has physicality in his own right. You don't lose physicality when Pollard is in there.

-30 snaps a game would give Pollard plenty of opportunities. If he hits on one big play, defenses with be forced to adjust.
-Like to see a similar attack how Sean Peyton used Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara. Get them onto the field at the same time in certain packages.Have Pollard lined up all over the field. Force teams to play more coverage and it allows Zeke to see less box players.

They did have a few plays together last season but not enough. Zeke even blocked on 1 play.

Careful feeding the Beast. He gets fat and slow like he did last year. Give Pollard for running plays, regardless if you're overpaying the Beast.

If used the personnel right, this offense has legit firepower to become one of the better offenses in the entire league. If the coaches/Dak can solve the slow, early starts, skies the limit!

Fair enough. I would like to see all our offensive skill players out there on a given play. If the OL can hold up, there are very few defenses who can match-up with our personnel.

We have to have balance. Don’t get one sided unless they can’t stop the run at all and we are in the lead. But I think MM will want to stay aggressive the whole game.
