You know, if I ever had that much money, I'm not sure I wouldn't just set enough aside for everybody to pay for college and have enough to buy a modest home and then just let them all cut their own paths.

Seriously, I might just do that and then give all the rest to a charity or some such.
I've thought about that myself, and I might go so far as to insist that one or more of them major in finance, and become financial advisors for the family.

I don't think I would do that. I mean, part of it needs to be learning enough to grow up and manage your money. I'd probably just throw it in a trust and dole it out when they get to a certain age.

That would make sense. Times are different from when we grew up. Kids these days have it different. And it's not their fault, it's the way technology took off. But I see less kids working at a young age. I had to get a work permit to get a job underage, lol. But there's a lot you could do with that much money and setting them up to succeed is a good idea.

This thread is funny. Yes mahomes got a monster deal, biggest ever etc.. but a) he is the hottest QB stock in the league.. absolutely no limit on what he could do over the next 12 years. b) he is so superior to Dak it isn't even a question. c) his deal, when averaged out, is very team friendly and gives KC security at the QB position... d) if Mahomes 'holds out' like Dak then he ends up with a much higher pay day imho..

So once again we see a TRUE class player.. mahomes.. walk the talk and sign a team friendly (but still monster) deal that is fair.

Dak just talks about the team.. in the end he has done everything to show that just wants a pay day that he hasn't earnt and would cripple the team.

If this is a huge red sign for those still obsessed with the notion Dak is somehow a 'leader' then I don't know what will show you.

"The biggest thing they preached to me is kind of the same thing I already thought. It was good to just hear them. You want to have great players around you. You don't want to be a guy that takes up all the money and then all of a sudden you're having to sign different guys that will take cheaper deals. We're going to be able to reward players and keep a lot of these guys around that have built the culture even before I was here.''

What he said is all fine and good until they hit the 2026 season when they agree to picking up that season and then they also automatically have to take 2027 with a cap hit of 59.9 mil just for 2027. How many players will have to be let go because of almost 60 mil for just Mahomes. Then the last 2 years cap hits of 50mil and 52 mil. and that's not going to cost the chiefs any players.

And tell me actual proof that's verified by one of the 4 people actually involved in the contract negotiations exactly what offers have been offered and rejected. All ANYONE has is guess work speculation made by sportswriters or so called insiders who have never had a direct quote from any of those 4 people actually doing the negotiating. Yet fans have made all sorts of declarations based off those guesses and speculation.

Good post! This just about sums it up. Anyone that actually thinks Dak is comparable to Mahomes doesn't know a thing about QBs.

Why would you say that?
Mahomes just signed a half billion dollar contract in one of the worst potential economical times in history.
Looks like a pretty fat insurance policy from where Im standing.
only 3 years are guaranteed and all the years following are treated like a 5th year option on his rookie deal which is a team option. Imagine someone offering lebron a deal with a team option in it. LOL. Lebron would probably smack them just for offering it.

Sorry for having a different opinion than you. Just because you are not able to accept mine doesnt make me clueless. It just shows your stubborness.
Dark needs a loaded roster and mahomes doesnt have one as well? Plus better coaching? #clueless

Mahomes knows all those other years are guaranteed also. Just doesn't have it in writing. As if the Chiefs would ever cut him. The only way Mahomes doesn't receive every single penny of this contract is if he ends up with a real serious career threatening injury.

Of course.

Mahomes' contract is set up so they can redo and finagle more cap room out of it in the future. So the Chiefs can keep enough talent around him. Smart contract on both sides. That's why the length of the contract is so important. And why Dak's insistence on a short term deal is nothing short of pathetic self centered greed.

This. He's also setting himself up to walk away from the game healthier with having a potentially better OLine.

DenCWBY---dang...that is a "serious" long horn..anyway...if we compared NFL salaries now to 60's and 70's....one has to say...dude how much do you need?

The years are guaranteed if the team picks up the option. So as of right now its a 4 year deal with 3 years guaranteed unless the team decides to pick up the 5th year.

So Dak is selfish and doesn’t care about the team like his friend Zeke?
