If he beats out Williams and McGovern that would be quite a feat, and it would be great for the team, but I would not bet my farm on it happening.
More realistically, he gets a spot on the practice squad to help us, even more, own the market and see if he can develop.

I believe that Issac Alarcon Garcia is going to be surprise player on the OL. He is going to win out the LG spot and beat weak Connor Williams and always injured Connor McGovern. He reminds me of Zack Martin & Quenton Nelson who played tackle prior to moving inside. Unlike the Connor brothers IAG has natural strength with tackle feet to dominate the guard position. Cowboys will be able to run an in-depth running game that utilizes Zone, Power & quick dump offs with all 5 OL able to pull in any direction.

Will McClay is a genius.

i loved that they assigned to come here but cmon at this point he’s a development player. He’s been playing at a way lower level than most around him. He gets to go against people his size now.

I have no idea who this kid is but there is precedent.

Remember, the greatest offensive lineman in football (IMHO), Larry Allen, came out of Sonoma State which defunded its football program not long after Allen went to the NFL.

I'm happy for the opportunity he has, but would say long shot to start. If he can make the team as a reserve that would be a great accomplishment and maybe he can develop from there.

Without checking, Larry Allen might have been the highest drafted player to ever come out of Sonoma State.
There was a RB I believe that was drafted by the Chargers around that time, shortly after the Cowboys drafted Larry Allen, but it was a later draft pick.
Our scouting dept was on fire during that era.

We have scrimmaged against the team (Monterrey Institute of Technology) that Alarcon Garcia played for and I can tell you the level of competition (LOC) is comparable to a low level junior college team. He's obviously a special talent amongst that program, but the jump in LOC he's about to face is going to be monumental. He has never lined up against someone with the power and quickness of a Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, Tank, etc.

Also, the idea that Connor McGovern is always injured is off. In 3 years at Penn State, he played in 39 games, and started 35 of them. He tore his pectoral muscle which could happen to anyone playing football or lifting. McGovern will be a huge part of this O Line moving forward.

I'm hopeful for Alarcon Garcia, but I think we're looking at two to three years down the road. We were early on Efe Oboda (England) but weren't patient with him and he's developed into a solid contributor for the Panthers. We need to have a longterm plan for Alarm Garcia. He's only 21 and is about to get baptized to NFL LOC.
