What is my point? First off, you jumped into a discussion 'I was having with another poster. I was replying to his post I didn't necessarily have a "point". Just was refuting some of his claims.

And if the argument is that Wentz and Goff helped their teams go #1 in the regular season? Dak has done that too. The same amount of times as Wentz. Except he actually has more than 3 passing yards accredited to him in the playoffs.

Wentz has never been to a Super Bowl.

These contract talks just aren't as black and white as you guys want it to be. I wish it was. Hell I wish fans didn't even have knowledge of contracts or contract talks. But we do so it is what it is.
How dare you refute me.. lol. I just think that he should get similar contracts and if the next man up for the most part is supposed to raise the bar a little I could agree.

Dak actually said at one point he expected his worth but didn’t expect as much as wilson because he hadn’t been to or won a SB. My how things have changed. His agent has got him thinking he is better than mahomes. Lol. I also understand that his agents job is to get him the most he can.

I would say that the contract offered is in line with close to wilson money. There is a gap there thats not specific number and we likely won’t know. If he turns down wilson money then I let him play on the tag. And wouldn’t be in a hurry to talk next year unless we reach or win the SB.

That looks like the same deal as Wentz and Goff, and the market is only going up.
no its not not for every single player or QB, thats for the owners to decide and for the player/agent to negotiate..its not AUTOMATIC STOP ACTING AS IF EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IS NEXT MAN UP..Dak has market of his own its not Wilson and Mahomes its exactly in the middle of the mix of the Goff/Wentz etc deals..he hasnt earned elite market sorry Jerry Jones is his employer not the Chiefs and not the MNFL, he can demand what he wants but Jerry get to decide daks market until Jerry decides to let him walk in afew years.. if it was automatic no need for an agent or a contract, just money dumped into accounts when contacts expire..

let Dak sign the 5yr deal in place, if he thinks he will outplay that deal, come back after year 3 AFTER collecting an MVP and a SB appearance and maybe a win and ask for a new deal.. he would get it.. hes afraid this is his last chance for the biggest deal because Dak knows he most likely wont achieve what every single QB who set the market did FIRST, make or win a SB and other hardware..they all did it early...

who hasn't been to a SB making over 32mil? not win one but been to one or two?

I know Mahomes has, Wilson, yes, Ryan, yes , Big ben , yes, Rogers Yes, and Even Goff and Wentz ,even though wentz didnt play he can argue he helped propel that team up on the path before a late season injurys had Foles save the day but BOTH were with a team that made SB..

sure its team game but Market for dak is NOT Wilson or Mahomes..sorry Jerry and Stephen have offered him fair deals since day one and have increased the offers but i say hold steadfast at this last known offer.. Dak hasn't surpassed that market yet...

i hope th deal falls through and let Dak have this year with MM and staff with an improved ST and Defense and then have zero excuses to not being a big reason for an NFCCG appearance and possible SB..

do it then bring your EGO back to the table.

i think it would be immensely more interesting if dak is not signed long term. imagine the pressure it would put on him to have a stellar year in the hope of cashing in the following season. it might be the motivation for him to win the big dance. i really, truly hope a deal is not made. i'd love to see the exchanges from the fo and dak and his agent as to why a deal couldn't be done. and i could then crow like chaucer's chanticleer when i said it wouldn't happen last year after he turned down what was a most fair offer.

If Dak is not signed to a long term contract today the story will never go away. No matter what all that will be talked about regarding Dallas this year is Dak's contract. Well until Aldon Smith gets arrested or flakes on the team I guess then it will be about him.

This organization always has some sort of drama because they can never do things right.

So simple question here- Dak wants a 4 year deal and the Cowboys want 5. Obviously to soread out the Cap hit better.

But, does Dak playing 1 year on the tag make a 4 yr contract more palatible for the Cowboys?

I think Dak should accept the deal.

I mean. I understand him wanting to bet on himself. But with everything going on. I wouldn’t risk it. There’s a chance the season isn’t even played in full this year. Or, he could get injured. It’s just way too risky.
While I 100% agree with you. From a financial standpoint he's gonna make more $$. If they franchise him for 2 seasons he will average 34.5 million in str8 cash over 2 seasons. Everyone knows most deals are back loaded so his first 2 years of his new contract wouldn't come close to those even at 35-36m a year. The franchise tag is also totally guaranteed. Dak has bet on himself every step of the way, why would he stop now? Our front office is so dumb that they give him more weapons to succeed and think he will have worse years lol.

Dak is completely insane if he doesn’t take the deal today. Too much risk associated with not signing the deal.

It seems from leaks (and again who knows if true), the numbers are roughly similar to what Goff and Wentz got. I don't see how Dak can ask for much more than what those guys got. Sure, maybe a small bump because their deals are a year old but if he's asking for something closer to Mahomes as opposed to closer to Goff/Wentz/even Wilson, then he's being unreasonable IMO.

Dak would be lucky to get a single national endorsement if he was the QB of 25 other NFL teams. He's already made a fortune being a Cowboy, yet he is worried about back pay for his first 3 seasons?

Dak will only get more expensive as Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson (and Trubisky...j/k) sign extensions in the next 12 months. So signing Dak now and caving to his current demands will be CHEAPER than it will next off-season (where Dak would get 37m on a 2nd tag regardless if the cap overall goes down because of Covid-19), So if Jerry and Stephen let Dak play on the tag this year, they're almost certainly saying goodbye after this season unless they win a SB and Dak leads them, in which case Dak might not even sign the 2nd tag at 37m when he could get 45m+ because he would get 54m on a 3rd tag, so over 2021-2022, his average would be 45.5,

I can't understand why JJ and Stephen didn't sign Dak to an extension during the 2018 season or last off-season when he would have been 75-90% cheaper. But their ridiculous insistence that "Deadlines Make Deals" is out-dated thinking. You're not negotiating oil drilling contracts. It's NFL contracts in 2020.

I don't blame Dak one iota for sticking to his demands. Owners can cut players and toss them aside however they want. Power to the players.

Give Dak a 4y 140m deal with 50m signing bonus that they can pro-rate over the 4 years, and guarantee 120m. It reduces their 2021 cap.

HE STANDS to lose millions in endorsements in the Dallas area. They wanna endorse guys that represent that area longterm. It would behoove all parties involved to come to the table, and do something that benefits everyone. Being a lameduck QB in a year where we are in a pandemic is terrible optics for the player, the team, the NFL...and is super risky. The team stands to lose their QB and get nothing in return in 2021. THAT CANNOT HAPPEN. Also, Dak may find the market totally reshaped in 2021 due to the uncertainty we all face right now in the world. THIS HAS TO GET DONE or no one on either side will be satisfied.
