That won't work because he has an ironclad guarantee of 31.4M and either free agency or 37.7M next year.
He won't be effected by a falling cap because his numbers are locked in.

Like most sports there will be a year of lower income. It is all guesses as to how they'll deal with that but in all likelihood it will be spreading that shortfall season across like 3 others into the future.

Almost regardless of the economy the deal in 2022 for streaming rights will blow anything we've seen for media rights out of the water.
You are talking global versus national.
Amazon and Netflix and Disney and Youtube will battle tooth and nail to win this which would set them up as the major streaming service and carry their entire lineup.
Most likely they'll be splintered like now across major networks all of them paying a fortune for a slice.
GOOD POINTS. I tend to agree. THAT SAID, I just think it behooves him to sign and put this behind him. This will be another distraction all year long otherwise. BOTH sides need to come together and get the years right. I would sign him to a 5 year deal with a player option to opt out after year 4, no BS...no smoke and mirrors. Too much uncertainty in the world to not sign this deal if they can get the years right and the guarantees right.

I think this is a very fair deal for Dak. However, here is what Dak might be thinking. He can play on the tag for about $31 million this year. Then he is going to get $37 million next year. That's $68 million or $34 million avg per year. Then in 2022, he can continue to negotiate with Dallas or any other team and probably get more money than the Cowboys are offering now. I am sure Dak, being very confident in his abilities no matter what we might think about him, is not considering that he may play poorly. He has been very durable too, so he probably sees injury as a low risk. If Dak isn't thinking this way, I bet his agent is.

I think Dak is holding all the cards or at least he/his agent thinks he is. I would not be surprised if Dak turns down this offer and every offer in 2020 and 2021. We are hearing everything the Cowboys have supposedly offered, but little about what Dak really wants, other than years which is really about money down the road.

Not sure if anything is guaranteed if there is no season. The owners aren’t going to eat it. I am hoping there will be a season. I say go for it.!
thats a major point you make. What I was tryin to say. I think Dak is asking for something that may be dang near impossible .My hunch its the agent that is wanting this, to protect HIM, more than Dak, so he gets paid.

its risky on his part. I think he is over thinking this thing. Cutting off his nose to spite his face.

There will 100% be a season.
It will just depend on if any fans or not.
It looks like not at this point.
But that may change for playoffs and the like.
The NFL is one of the last leagues to have to deal with this because of the Fall start.

I'm sure owners will push for concessions like less money into retirement accounts and medical accounts for this year and the like to help offset some losses then they'll make it up across future seasons by making a higher % for 3 or 4 years.

In a year of uncertainty, the last thing the team with a new revamped coaching staff needs is a distraction looming at the most important position on the field, QB. Dak will look like a toothless tiger, and the media will eat his lunch. It will be constant questions about his future all year long. This is avoidable if they get this done NOW. MM doesnt need a burdensome stone around his neck to start his new gig.

Dakota has been and will always be a ME-First guy. This guys has been enriching himself with commercial money before he accomplished anything. Quality people choose to hone their craft before prostituting themselves commercially

Hes been about the Benjamins first and foremost since day 1.

He came to this team already on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple
Lol wow. You will stop at nothing to make him look bad. Dakota said on live tv he doesn’t want to be highest paid nor should he. So stop.

They always want there 3% to be as much as they can get. He already draws 28 million a year from his other players contracts. That’s starting QB money and he don’t even play. He is costing Dak money IMO.

For those just joining the party, this is a great graphic

But, La'el and Jaylon should be flipped.

Just about bet that if he dont sign then that’s all the media will ask Dak and JJ all year is about the contract or lack of. He needs to fire his agent.

AGREE. ITS JUST GREED BY THE AGENT. He's trying to protect his future money too. Not thinking about Dak.

Yep and it will cause bad blood whether there was any there or not. MM will get so sick of answering the same question. And JJ will lose it on TV at the reporters. A few johnny walkers and it will hit him wrong. Lol.

Prescott is his own man with his own brain. He can instruct who he likes to represent him or even finalise the team himself.
