That’s a risk the Cowboys apparently are willing to take.

Wonder why the Chiefs didn’t wait?

Na, I think there something else going on at the Star or out on the Yacht. Lol
The Chiefs are really a bad example.

1. Mahommes signed a very team-friendly deal. Dak isn't wiling to do that.

2. Mahommes has won a Super Bowl mosly because of the caliber QB he is. Dak has not.

3. The Cowboys have made what many agree is a fair offer. It takes two to tango.

I’m confused by your response . I’m only interested in what your opinion is of what the Cowboys are doing. Meaning do you think they are convinced , not whether you are.

And if you believe they are sold on Dak they are handling this correctly? It appears they are bundling the situation assuming they are All In.
Ok..

No I do not think they are convinced Dak is a complete answer.

Therefore hold the line on the contract so money is available to sign more and better players to add to Dak.

Hopefully clear enough.

My references to signing Amari to clarify DAKs abilities needing more help is to clarify what I think Dallas is thinking, not me.

Money is what you are asking about. Money equals production.

DAK's production by Cowboy standards is not there yet. I do think they have positioned themselves to go forward with Dak or Dalton or another as yet unknown.

If I had a do over..I would have signed Brady.

For what Mahomes just got, what Dak is being offered..

Brady was the answer for the next 2-3 years.

Mahommes contract already hurt his negotiating power - current economic reality could hurt it even more next year - Dak loses from here into next year if he does not take the deal - then, heaven forbid for him he decides to force his ouster from Dallas - then he really loses on endorsements when he goes to some team nobody cares about or in addition he has to pay 6-10% state income tax on half his salary. Time value of money, endorsements, loss of salary cap possible, injury - all bad news for Dak

Bad bad move on Daks part to not takes Dallas' best deal- his agent should be flogged!
Are you aware of the contract that's being offered to him?

If he loses money he loses money. He's making 31 million this year. Scared money don't make no money.......

Then he will play under the tag for 2 years and either take 35-36 a year or go somewhere else and get paid less. Unless he helps us get to a SB the numbers won’t change much for him.

It takes a team to win a SB. And mahomes did not have a great game. Down by 10 and threw 2 picks. If the 49ers just ran the ball his offer may not have been that size.

I am aware as everyone else is on this board - which is - we have a very good idea!

So do you think he will gain more money than he loses in time value of the money forgone last year or even this year in a signing bonus rather than a weekly check!

IF he has a lousy year then you don't want to sign him at that point. One of two things will happen. He will either raise his value or he will suck to the point you want to move on from him. There's no scenario where he lessens his value to where you keep him.
The premise of the op presupposes he'll have a good year, ergo the price goes up. I do agree with your assessment regarding all the rest.

1) Nah, he needed to play well in 2019 to even warrant a long term deal
2) Time value of money - Summer of 2019 money versus summer of 2021 money - Jerry probably made good money on that investment and we got the cap carryover and money to sign Amari and Zeke and others
3) You don't know what next years market holds and Mahommes contract already gave him LESS leverage
4) Maybe it is - fine by me!
So, you’re OK with Dak costing us financially much more next year?

If he even slightly gets better and our ST gets better we will make the playoffs. Heck he don’t have to get any better. He will have the same stats and we win a few more games than last year. His next contract offer may come down to how much our Defense improves or not.

I’m not sure he needs anything more than he’s had in previous 4 years. You’re either sold on him or not.

Regardless the price isn’t going down barring very unusual circumstances. Standing firm now will ultimately just cost more later.

Our ownership is getting ripped for not resigning him arguing it will cost us millions more moving forward.

I'm pretty confident that the Cowboys want to sign Dak but it's on a limited basis. They want him at a price they're comfortable with at this point in time. They're certainly not comfortable with what he'd deserve if he were on Mahomes' elite level. I'd like to see Dak sign for about what the FO has already proposed but that seems like a longshot, as of right now. Another hour and a half from now should tell the tale regarding that.

Right now we are seeing how a Stephen run cap structure will work going forward. I think Jerry would have done a deal already but Stephen is trying to be more responsible with cap management. And if this is indeed the case it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Seems this isn't the soft Jerry agents are used to dealing with so we shall see how committed Stephen is or if he caves like his dad used too.

We don’t know what they are gonna get. They signed mahomes but he isn’t getting the 45 a year. It just looks that way. We could have dressed up a contract to look good if Dak wanted a long deal.
We have some idea what they might get. Prob more than Dak is asking for now.

But these teams get to spread the money out because it’s a extension. I doubt Dak or his agent cares. They had a legit offer last year that would have made him the highest paid QB and his agent pulled out because we beat 3 teams. It both sides fault.

Does anyone think he would get offered more than 35 million a year from another team right now.

Ultimately it falls on our ownership and Mgmt if they can’t get our franchise QB signed.

I mean if he loses money he loses money. People who bet on themselves usually do it knowing they can potentially lose money. I'm sure from Dak's perspective he wasn't a millionaire prior to getting into the NFL so everything at this point is bonus.
