Well, I guess the talking heads on tv and radio will have something to talk about tonight. Maybe they can milk it for few days if there is no other sports news.

Do I care one way or another about this contract? No. First big question is out of bounds for this forum.
Second big question is whether Dak will hold out in camp.

The answer to both is ‘we shall see.’

We just lived through 18 mths of these incorrect statements. You can't start up again within an hour of it failing to happen. I'm thinking March 2021 would be the earliest this should start up again.
After today all dak contract threads should be banned for a year. And any poster who guaranteed dak would be signed gets 4 week ban. I think that's being kind.

You're fooling yourself. You still think Garrett and McCarthy are one in the same. This front office is operating differently and they're listening to a HC with an actual resume.

from an article in the DMN... (can't post the link)

jerry-jones-meddlesome-reputation-is-set-in-stone-but-mike-mccarthys-fingerprints-can-already-be-seen-on-the-cowboys/

"McCarthy will not only have more say in personnel than Jason Garrett did, he’ll have more than any Cowboys head coach since Jimmy Johnson."
Not buying it. I heard Jerry say that with Parcells just for him to force TO on him. I'll wait to see it before I believe any unnamed source or even Jerry saying it. I can't be that naive this time around. If he truly had say Kellen Moore wouldn't be here.

Mildly surprised, but then this isn't usual times.

And the exclusive tag isn't used very often, in of itself not sure it means anything more than Jerry/Stephen didn't want to commit to a long term deal of any kind due to the Covid situation, the offer was apparently made long before Covid came along, after it did come along Jerry/Stephen might just be thinking they'd better wait and see what happens in the next few months or so.

We can guess all we want, but that's all it is, guessing.

Though in Dak's case, as well as other NFL quarterbacks, you have to wonder - have they forgotten how it was to NOT be filthy rich? Guess I'd be the same as most folks seem to be, whatever you have, it's not enough, even if one year is 10 times what most of us make in our entire lifetime....

Two high level thoughts.
1. Jerry doing what Jerry always does. 25 years without a championship game. Could have had him cheap two years ago.
Hopefully the silver lining is we can get Cam, or Winston cheap, or pay for Aaron Rodgers.

2. This is Dak's last year. He won't find a situation as nice as this. Good luck playing in Jacksonville or some other second rate city where careers go to die.

Why would he hold out?
1) He signed the tag
2) the deadline passed to sign a deal

You already saw it with Poe and McCoy and a smart draft. You just refuse to admit it. The Cowboys usually sit on their hands through free agency, nevermind 2 DTs in the first week while drafting another. None of that happens with Garrett here!

It's over.. feel like we dodged a huge bullet. Even to the end I thought there would be a last minute signing.

This is a good day for Cowboy fans. Stephen and Jerry love Dak... but they wouldn't lose their minds to sign him. That means that somewhere in their dim-witted skulls, and in the organization, there is at least some football evaluation going on.

These were always strange negotiations... but Dak slobberers didn't want to see it through their frustration and anger. When have you ever heard someone say, not just once but multiple times, that he wasn't going to take a hometown discount? And then that being really the only thing he ever says throughout the entire negotiations while letting his agent handle it? It was always strange.

It's a great day for Cowboys fans. It's a bad day for Dak slobberers, but really it just adds an extra day on top of two years of looking stupid for them. Not much different.

I've always felt compassion on people who double down on being wrong it's like getting mad at someone that rides the short bus you just can't really do it

Just begs the question:

What has QB guru McCarthy told JJ and SJ about Dak since he became the HC? You’d think if MM was “all in” on Dak— this deal would have gotten done.

Maybe this is what it is: Dallas value MM a ton and believes he can lead them to the next franchise QB. Can’t see a long term deal getting done at this point. Both sides feel disrespected. Time to move on.

Yes today seemed to go in slow motion. Draining but worth it in the end.

If we now trade Prescott even better. Really move it along rather than let it drag out. He's done in Dallas - not a question of if but when we move on from him.

Good day for the Cowboys.

If for no other reason then I think it shows a bit of a change in how they might handle business going forward. I felt like a mega deal was Daks to win or lose. If he wins a Super Bowl, the sky is the limit for Dak. If he doesn't, he doesn't.

Fairest thing in the world to me.

I know that a lot of people owe apologies to young brothers like Pappydog, WillieBeamon and others who called this years ago. Their football acumen as well as their fandom and loyalty to the Cowboys was questioned on a daily basis.

This decision by MM and the Cowboys completely vindicates all the opinions they had concerning the commercial king known as Rayne Dakota.

The Quincy Carter 2.0. era is nearly over.

I don’t mean to rub it in. I know there are several here that are in genuine grief as if a loved one has passed away.

I wanted to make sure that some of our fellow forum members got some recognition for all the crap they’ve
taken the past 3 years

Hallelujah, holla back.

I get that he believes he’s that good. Truth is he’s just OK, he just doesn’t know it. I mean...not counting stats and all, what exactly has he WON?

I don’t even want to get started about how much of his success is attributed to his surrounding cast!

Thanks for the upcoming year, Dak. Maybe you’ll win us a Super Bowl. Otherwise, see ya.

Next?
