Something that happened to another team that you thank God didn't happen to the Cowboys

The best player in your team's history becomes infamous for the being put on the "Trial of the Century" after being charged with murdering his wife and her lover. (Bills)

You draft the best quarterback in your generation with the #1 overall pick and he demands a trade because the HC was his dad's main rival when they were both coaching college football. That QB has a record breaking 15 year HOF career that includes 5 SB appearances and two championships. Meanwhile, your team is run out of town to one of the smallest markets in the country and makes the playoffs once in the next 12 years. (Colts)

You have the overall #2 pick in the draft and he becomes the only one in the top five picks that year not to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In fact, he becomes a total bust and the poster child for steroid usage in the NFL. You could have drafted the RB, CB, or LB that were historic game changers at their position . (Packers)

You have the best regular season record, the #1 offense, the #1 defense, and you get booted in the first round of the playoffs.....twice. (Rams)

This season you have the most dominant team in the league with the best record. You have the #1 defense featuring one of the most intimidating defensive lines in NFL history. One of your D-linemen is not only a future HOFer and 1st Team All-Pro but that year's Defensive Player of the Year. One of your safeties holds the record for INT's to this day. He is a future HOFer and a 1st team All Pro.

Your offense features a future HOF QB, and 1st team All Pro. Your RB is 1st team All Pro. In all, your team has 9 Pro Bowlers.

In the first round of the playoffs you are heavily favored with the #1 seed and playing the wild card team. In a hard fought battle you are leading with only a few seconds left. Your opponent is on the 50 yard line with time running out. Their quarterback throws a desperation bomb accompanied with a prayer and, instead of your team moving on to their obvious destiny, they go down in history as the victim of the original "Hail Mary"....which you are painfully reminded of every time another QB had to make that throw over the past 45 years. (Vikings)

You have arguably the most successful team, QB and HC in the history of the game. Your team has won three of the last six Super Bowls. Still, none of them have achieved what this year's team has.....an undefeated season all the way up to the Super Bowl. You have the #1 offense, both yardage and scoring....and you lose the Super Bowl to a team that wasn't even the best in their division, a #5 seed. The loss is such a fluke that it could never be repeated in a million years......but it is repeated in five years.....to the same team....only this time they are the #6 seed. (Patriots)

Your team's management decided that enough is enough, you want to win now. So they hire the best HC in the history of the game at that time. He is a legend. Eventually, the championship trophy will be named after him. This results in the team's first winning season in 14 years. A few months later, the HC is diagnosed with terminal cancer and passes away. (Commanders)

I think that the worst thing that can happen to a team is for it to change its name because of some stupid ****.
