well i hope he does but it does annoy me that the cowboys probably cant go sign a big time (very underrated bc of sack numbers....kind of like dlaw) impact dl named clowney because they have so much money tied up on the tag in a average qb. clowney + dalton would give the cowboys a better chance at a super bowl this season.

I was tempted to start yet another thread, because this is something I haven't seen asked as yet: Now that Dak is playing under the tag, is he going to play it safe and make "business decisions" to avoid getting hurt this year? Is he really going to give his all, in an effort to win a SB, or is he going to be more concerned with not jeopardizing his chances of getting a deal next year to try to make up for the deal he failed to sign?
Yep, I was pondering the same in a couple of threads the last few days...It will be interesting to see.

Of course he is.
But this is also PR damage control

That's what I think as well.

Sounds like Dak waited until the last minute to make a halfhearted attempt at signing the deal that has been rumored to be on the table for months now. Now he can say he tried even though he had no intentions of signing.

dude he will be gone next year, this was a freaking mess and he is a large part of it

No one knows what will happen. I prefer for him to play on the tag and show what he's worth under a real coach. If he does that, he will get rewarded with a contract on that tier that he already believes he's on, while the Cowboys apparently do not.

"I was going to sign but we ran out of time"
this could be PR, but it could be he wanted to , but his agent didnt do his job well, and at last minute jerry would not take any calls.
Which means they are upset with dak.
With the current situation, I think dak messed up. He will regret this, and his hiring the wrong agent.
I think the jones boys probably decided to not talk to france anymore, so dak tried to contact them , and they didnt take his call either.
I think they expected jerry to cave, and he didnt, so tried to take the deal at last minute, but it was no longer there.

If we win a SB with Dak on the roster, he’ll be the backup to whoever’s starting! PERIOD!

That's all I want him to be focused on. If he does that, the contract will take care of itself.
I have no problems anytmore with Dak.

Why?

As soon as I saw Mahomes' new deal..

Dak's became a bargain.

Anybody can see that.

I would never want to sign a guy for 10 years like that. The hit at the end of the deal could kill you.

And an injury could make that happen at any time.

We can afford Dak's deal and be happy. Even next year.

After that it all depends on what we have accomplished.

Our front office has to be congratulated and Dak has to be appreciated by all of us.

We have a good chance at doing what we want with who we have.

McCarthy now has the pressure shifted to him and his new staff and how they adjust to being a new untested staff together.

I'm satisfied.
