Honestly Five, I think the nfl as a whole has a hideous culture. If it were not for many, (I did not say All), of the players being able to play this game, they would be working at low level jobs just trying to make ends meet.

Sorry but you can't negotiate "in camp" for the risk of people seeing you tweak something or something bad actually happening that might give the FO pause for paying you. So that's against "getting every dollar that he could've" as you say you don't blame him for because you have to eliminate as many risks as you can when doing so. Same for Lawrence. People love to slander him with holding the team hostage in holding off on his surgery until he got paid, but a 1 in a million chance of doctor's malpractice would have killed any talks at the numbers that eventually got hammered out. So you eliminate that risk and do your business. Doesn't always make fans "comfortable" but if you're a player you ignore that uninformed noise about how YOu should handle YOUR own personal business. In Zeke and Lawrence's cases it worked.
