I was tempted to start yet another thread, because this is something I haven't seen asked as yet: Now that Dak is playing under the tag, is he going to play it safe and make "business decisions" to avoid getting hurt this year? Is he really going to give his all, in an effort to win a SB, or is he going to be more concerned with not jeopardizing his chances of getting a deal next year to try to make up for the deal he failed to sign?

If you have to ask that question then you haven't paid attention the last 4 years.

I hope that's the case.
Dak bet on himself, now the bet is pushed up.
Dak has to ball out now if he ever expects to get his payout on his bet.
Todd will be on his couch, clapping insistently on every stat elevating pass completion.

Really? It seemed like he shied away from running at times when he had room.

Besides, the last 4 years, he wasn't on the franchise tag, waiting for a big payday.

He was offered a much more than fair deal. He can say whatever he wants but he has done nothing but reject offers that would make him one of the highest paid players in the league and seems to not care one bit about how his contract affects the team's cap. I'm ready to move on. He wants to be paid like Mahomes, then play like him. That's basically the only thing that can get me back on his side.

This just makes no sense.

If actually wanting to get something done, all parties would have the decision makers on both sides on a conference call standing by to approve or modify any open ends.

They could have approved the contract in principle and signed a contract.

This is just smoke screening.

Dak took what was on the table and is betting he has got this far with his negotiations and will press for more next year.

Nothing wrong with that.

But he keeps redoubling the pressure on himself to meet the standards each new deal implies.

At some point he will come up short by the laws of probability. He does not control everything around him.

He would be wise to excell this year and then strike for his top price next off season.

Lady Luck is a fickle lover, Dak.

Just saying.

:omg:
