What, you think the teams success or lack of has nothing to do with their evaluation???? No wonder you're LOL!
You should be LOL at your own post.
That’s not what I’m saying.

Is the QB the only position you need to see team success to validate a players value?

Think about what you’re saying?

How do they evaluate in practice or in the draft if players are on a bad team? Evaluation of talent isnt directly related to the teams success. How absurd and why I’m Lol.

We missed our opportunity to sign him last year choosing to wait and see how he performed in 2019. Now if we wait until 2021 he’s going to be much more expensive .

At least about 7 million more just on the Franchise Tag but an extended contract next year will surpass anything we could arrive at today.

Assuming we still want Dak for years to come if we don’t sign him today it’s going to be a poor financial decision compared to next year or years ahead.

The only conclusion we can arrive at today if we don’t extend him is we aren’t sold on Dak and that message will be loud and clear.

Try not to use the words “never” or “always”. Just a bit of advice.

Actually it’s from beat writers and sports reporters who are closer to the situation with more access than any of us do. You’re just discrediting or discounting cause you don’t agree with it.

Im more of a Dak critic and was ready to applaud the Cowboys for not resigning but I follow the local media and journalism closely often influenced along with public perception . And yes, don’t we all look for material to support our agendas.

Their criticism isn’t revolving around whether Dak is worthy of the contract or not . It’s more directed that if the Cowboys Mgmt were intent on making Dak their future they missed a great opportunity to seal the deal.

And by potentially waiting another year for whatever reason is going to cost them millions which ironically is what some of the opponents are applauding Mgmt for by standing pat to save money which is ridiculous cause if we sign him next year will cost much more.
it's not their money, ergo their opinions aren't as valuable as they think. they're just opinions.

Then you’re all about public perception.

You don’t trust your evaluation of his performance after 4 years. You need it validated by the teams success? Which might be exactly our Football Idiots and Son dilemma. Pitiful .. lol

No wonder they’re being bashed.
8-8. evaluate that.

What's absurd is you suggesting that they can evaluate him in practice without regard to whether he can win games or not. You're arguing just to defend a dumb statement, but you know better! You're just arguing for the sake of arguing. If the man can't win games, who cares if he looks good in practice??? Teams don't make their money in practice, they make money winning games. Period.

You talk about signing cheap. I don't mind paying for the Ferrari but when I do I expect it to drive like a Ferrari not a Dodge Pickup. Dak has a chance to show he is a Ferrari instead of a Dodge

All speculation.
But if Covid doesn't wipe out much of the season, he (and the team) has a very good season, he stays healthy, then you'd think his price will go up some.
He got about 31mil less than he could in 2019 (33-2) and maybe 3.5 less in 2020 (35-31.5)...so he will have some ground to make up.
I'm not sure how you measure the value a MM getting a full year to see Dak in his offense before being married to him for 4 years is.

Yup... love Dak or hate him this is the most basic of all facts.
Dallas costs to extend him only goes up and Dak's price isn't coming down.
He's had 4 years of solid QB play with an ascendant season last year that saw him dramatically improve pocket awareness and footwork.
Even if he has a very down COVID season it isn't going to derail his asking price thought it may deter Dallas from meeting it.
Free agency has always been undefeated and true QB1 almost never make free agency, much less proven QB1s at his age.
Sign Dak at no cost in draft capital??
5-7 teams would be in on him immediately at prices above Russell Wilson.

COVID isn't wiping out a season.
It hasn't for Soccer or the NBA or NHL.

The NFL isn't really at risk as a total wipe. But no fans? Likely for at least part of the season. Reduced season? Possibly for sure.
But the NFL isn't giving up the TV money they make on the playoffs/Super Bowl.

NCAA football very much is at risk because as State Institutions they are beholden to state mandates.

The Cowboys are saying 1 thing with that tag............."Show me". If he can do that, they'll pay him.

Dodge makes a nice truck. Lol.

True and it will get you to where you want to go, just not as quickly. lol
I would love nothing more than for Dak to have an great season and lead this team deep into post season and or a championship, and while it would cost Jerry more I can promise he would be signing that check with a big smile. If Dak does not take the next step as a QB then the old saying of sometimes the best deals are the ones that didn't happen

I hope you're right about that. I'm sick and tired of this off season! I'm ready for some football!

You totally didn’t grasp my practice analogy.

How do you evaluate talent in the draft or training camp without live games?
