It means whatever fits someone's narrative.

*Cowboys offer Dak $100 million guaranteed*

*Dak turns it down*
*Translation: the Cowboys weren't sold on him*

It also means these football wizards are going to be looking for another QB soon. I'm sure they'll nail it this time. :muttley:

This team is stupid for not signing its franchise QB to a long term deal.

That said, Dak is also stupid not to sign a long term deal in a world without sports. If someone was going to offer me security for the next 2-3 years, damn right I would take it

On average, the last 10 Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks have accounted for 8.4 percent of a team's salary cap, according to overthecap.com. but our guy wants more.

I also remember that no team won the Super Bowl after losing their first 2 games of the season until the Cowboys did it. Also no wildcard team won the Super Bowl until the raiders won Super Bowl XV. Point being because it hasn't been done does not mean it won't happen.

This.

Going full Kirk Cousins had something to say for it when everything was rainbows and buttercups. That's not the world we live in now.

Eazy to place blame when it was Jerrah who wanted paxton lynch to begin with. How wood that have worked out?

A number of teams wanted to draft Paxton Lynch but he turned into starting caliber dud. Becoming a starting quarterback requires not only a lot of ability but mental agility. I for one believe Dak is underrated by his detractors in here but believe he made a serious error in judgment not accepting the Cowboys proposal. The Cowboys offer in the mid $ 30 million per year was generous and respectable and it was commensurate with his experience, production and performance to date. Even the players understand the cap ramifications to a team and if you want to remain the leader of this team and be a career long Cowboys starting quarterback then you have to not only take but give, financially. So I am disappointed Dak didn't accept the offer and frankly he is possibly losing out having a stellar career with the Cowboys.

Look at all this offensive horsepower he could have for years to come if he had accepted this lucrative but reasonable offer with a possibility of making even more on a second contract if he became unquestionably post season proven. Go somewhere else and get paid more is his prerogative, but if he lands with a subpar team desperate for a potential star quarterback how will he be able to leave an indelible mark in the league.

Great. Romo woulda come back and the Cowboys would have won a super bowl one of those years.

This team has too much talent to be selecting in the Top 3 of the draft to get an elite talent at QB.

As such, not re-signing Dak is a major failure as other have pointed out because he will only continue to gain leverage.

Imagine the Cowboys position if they franchise him again in 2021. Heading into 2022 they will have zero leverage as Dak can walk and they will be left scrambling trying to find their next franchise QB.
He might be on the team already.

it means they know dalton can win 8 games at the least and they don't have to overpay him.

The idea of Prescott 'betting' on himself with McCarthy as head coach is gullible.
You think McCarthy will allow Prescott to freelance, engage in unnecessary risks, careless & reckless plays in order to "pad" Prescott's stats?

McCarthy butted heads with both Favre and Rodgers -- under McCarthy, Prescott for a year will be a system-QB (play conservative, be a game-manager, and don't be the reason the team loses a game).
Betting on yourself with a one-year contract with a strong-willed head coach that will not tolerate bone-headed QB-play is risky.

Hence, the Dalton signing -- the moment Dak challenges & exceeds McCarthy's authority in order to "prove" his worth as a QB, and produces bad results, Dalton will be called for duty.

McCarthy is only loyal to Prescott for 1-year.

This video was interesting so I’d thought I’d share. Explains why not getting Dak deal done last year was a mistake and how difficult a long term deal will be next year.

I'm going to piss myself laughing if the team goes 8-8ish again, Dak looks great against crappy defenses and poor against good to great defenses, the team misses the playoffs yet again, and Dak goes into UFA. You think teams will be lining up to bid against one another after that? Tyrod Taylor can win games with an excellent surrounding cast. So can Jacoby Brisset. Lots of QBs are decent, and you must come up with deals that allow for sufficient help. Maybe the Cowboys value of Dak just is not as high as many of the fans here. It's not just the Jones' that have input on something like this.

Ya that same Romo that couldn’t make it through a series in 2016 preseason? Or the season in 2015 ? Gotcha !
