I think this is all being blown out of proportion. Maybe we should wait and see exactly what the salary cap is before we start making roster moves because of it and look stupid in the end.
Do people not realize that there is a CBA and any reduction in Salary Cap will need to be agreed upon?

And when / if that happens, the NFLPA will do everything to make sure that no one loses their job in the process. So if there is a 25% cap reduction, I imagine that everyone's salary is cut by 25%. So what would that mean? Every team's salary cap situation would be identical to what it is now percentage wise, even if the overall dollar amount went down.

It's not like they are going to force teams to cut their Top Players just to get under a "reduced cap". If that is the case, then you would just have a bunch of Top Players either sitting on the sidelines in Free Agency or being forced to switch teams, even if they don't want to.

That is not good for the NFLPA, not good for the NFL as a league, that is not good for the players (and their families), and would be disastrous for individual NFL Teams that have built their rosters (hopefully with a purpose).

But let's just panic before any of that is known so that we can come up with stupid scenarios on why X player should be cut or not resigned.

Glad rocyaice gets it.

You guys posting you like Dalton at 3 million(would actually be 7 million if he played all season) over Dak at 30 plus million a year just shows how it has nothing to do with talent but your dislike for Dak period.

Even when Dak was making just over 600k for 1 season y'all still didn't like him. For whatever reason y'all gave a grudge against Dak and it has nothing to do with his talent or play. Y'all make that stuff up to feel better about the nonsense and b.s y'all talk.

I was going to say. A lot of people must just hate Dak blindly so say dalton is better or on par. Dalton has been hot garbage for the better part of the last 5 seasons.
The odd thing is that reading many of these comments.....you could switch the names ...still be true.

But the real problem here is.....Dalton-haters showing Cinci's record. Dont' you DARE show Dallas's record when talking abut Dak. Complete double standard.

I am pretty sure that you have it wrong in regard to the union having to agree to a cut in the salary cap. They already have a collective bargaining agreement in place and the salary cap is tied to the revenues of the league. A certain percentage of them goes into make the cap. If the revenues are down 40% in a given year, the cap is going to go down by a similar percentage.

I suspect the chiefs knew a month ago what we know now about the future cap situation
I do so something of a reset for most players but a guy like mahomes is getting paid
It would take years to reset the contracts around the league
I think what you could see is some teams having to cut players they didn’t want to cut. And free agents doing more short deals to get through a year or two till cap is fixed
The idea of a cap within the cap would depend on selling the players on such a plan because it a long time till next CBA is done
I don’t expect this cap issue to last more than 3 years, assuming the issues causing the cap issues only effects this season
If it effects future seasons then it could get really bad for the cap and god only knows what could happen
I love the idea of a cap on any one player based on pct of cap but selling it to players could be hard. Players are influenced by agents and they won’t like it. I think in time it raises pay to other players and overall more guys make more money
heres what we do know, it has to end somewhere. How that looks is yet to be determined. We cannot have 1 player making 500 mil or more lol...that is unsustainable IMO.Even if its spread out.

Team salary caps might decline significantly over the next 2 years. That means Dallas can't just play for this year but must look ahead at same time. I don't see Dallas franchising Dak next year as it would cost close to 20% of their Salary Cap. This means Dallas has this year to find out if: 1) Dak is true contending SB QB and 2) Dalton is adequate replacement of Dak after season. That's alot to get done in what might be shortened NFL season. Roster is too talented to be lazy about addressing alternatives to Dak after season. I say open up camp with competition at QB.
or we can see how Dak does with this coaching staff to properly gauge his value and not leave a rock unturned on him. No excuses.

why? this makes no sense at all. are you trying to tank the season? you are worried about something that hasn't come up and has yet to be figured out.....

that would just create a controversy. Also it would not be good for prescott. he needs the reps with the wr and the team needs to be used playing with him and his cadence.

True.....but the non existence of a long term contract up to this point, gives it all the credence in the world.

Rocyaice and his Comrades assured us and guaranteed us for the last 2 years this would never happen......but, "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry"

"Look into my eyes" :lmao2: I may be your future"

over half of this place and cowboys fans wanted Dallas to draft him and dump Romo...just like a ton of fans wanted dallas to draft Brady quinn in 07 and manziel in 14 although none admit to it now.

Jason Garrett loved Andy Dalton and Dallas was interested in moving up for him that year.

Now I bet these same people all say he sucks.

RIGHT! Great post.. But this is the Internet. People are more comfortable panicking. Its not that big of a deal. The issue should be are we even going to have a season. I'm not concerned with the cap.
