I find this completely idiotic but I've found the last 4 months the same so...

Preseason has a purpose. An important one. Players need to be developed and evaluated. Teams need to be prepared.
Preseason is the reason why most teams come out sloppy. It takes at least two games before you look like a football team. So I totally disagree with your statement. I think you play better just getting on with the game . From the beginning. Do you wanna evaluate your players that’s what practice is for

There happens to be a pandemic going on. Of course it’s going to be sloppy football for a few weeks. For everyone. There’s a pandemic going on.
I hate preseason football. It does not get your team ready for the season. It’s about a valuation and nothing more. I can evaluate my players and practice. I think this is actually better for the league

I don't think this hurts your top guys.Players don't need the preseason. Which is why this was proposed. If it helped the players they'd do it but it doesn't. This does help the fringe guys though who are on the bubble and they are the ones who will suffer IMO.
It’s not why it was proposed. But I agree with the rest your statement. Finally something intelligent about football. Other than slamming Prescott LOL I knew you knew something about the game

No preseason games? Should make final cuts interesting.
I don’t think it’s a really big factor in it. I think they know who they’re going to keep and cut even with the preseason. It just makes more of an intelligent decision but not the actual decision in my opinion

So it's "healthy" to just get right into the rigors of regular season?
I bet we see more injuries.
If you were a player and had a pregnant wife, would you chance it and play, knowing the possibility exists you could contaminate your wife and possibly your unborn child? That's the safety I'm talking about. Football injuries happen regardless. Eagles lost their top guard working out on his own.

Only thing I think that is good football is you can wear shields. I don’t know what’s going to happen it’s going to be a strange season You can’t isolate these players forever

I'm saying this was even proposed because the players don't need it. The NFLPA would never throw something out there that the players wanted to do. If the players needed preseason they'd play in all 4 of them. Other than slamming Dak? According to most I'm top 2 Dak "slobberer".....lol

Other than getting to watch more football. I’m not a fan of preseason. But with the salary cap you don’t have time to evaluate your players let them sit and learn colleges the new training camp. This is not the same game That we played in the 70s. I’m tired of coming out the first starting game looking like it’s still preseason. Because we didn’t play the starters.

Preseason all it does is gives us more revenue and beefs up the salary cap. Screw it we don’t need it anyways and the players don’t like it. Do you want to evaluate your players do it in practice. Tired of coming out sloppy because we rest the Starters

The players get what they want, although It took a freaking pandemic to get it. But they finally got what they wanted. Personally i think its a bad idea but the players have been pushing for more pay and less work. So we will see how that works out when the lights come on.

So...why don't the players play the full pre-season games? Yes...SOME of it is to evaluate bench players. But the term "camp bodies".....is to fill the roster so star players (heck even 2nd stringers~!) don;t have to play. Why? They don't want them injured. Why? Well sure..."meaningless games".....but they aren't really in full season condition yet. This will make it MUCH worse.

It is my opinion..that people in general.....assess your own risk and fear. But...if you don't work...you don't get paid. Or receive the same bail out check everyone else does. Depends on how gold diggin' the wifey is now.

We face danger and risk all the time. You mentioned Eagles I will go ahead and mention Erik Williams. And Josh Brent. YES...I GET IT! I went off tangent just a little bit there. I admit it. My point is life is filled with risk.

But.....if we put some safeguards in place...we can reduce risk. And if you don't wanna...then don;t. And pick up your 1200 dollar bail out check at the front desk. Like the rest of us.

I'm actually a little surprised the mods are letting us talk about this here instead of the 'rona page.

Drunk driving and a pandemic virus are not logical comparisons.

I wonder how many of them have allowed the virus to stop them from partying? :muttley:

This is what I am saying. Numbers rising, do you think it’s gonna be better in a month or even 2. If they play there will be a lot of the stats of the NFL opting out. Most have already made enough money to stay home forever.

You only get to scrimmage your own team in college. I think 2 preseason games have to be played at the minimum. BUT Nothing is normal so....

I've read the precautions both the NFL and the NFLPA have agreed on. As far as the players are concerned, I think they will be safe. No fans, but that is to be expected from the incompetent handling of the virus.

I don't think the pre season is very important to vet players but I do think for rookies and guys trying to make the team it has a lot of meaning. Granted it is not quality football but again it is not about winning and losing it is about putting young players in game situations and seeing how they preform. I guess the only positive I see in this is every team will have to contend with this.

very few, and that is why so many tested positive and they were spreading it around unknowingly.
I think this is the case with the public too, some people may be positive and dont know it because no one is getting tested.

Whenever the NFL decides it might be best to forego something that cuts into their profits, it's a clear signal that the situation warrants it.

The players have been reported to be the ones who originally suggested that such a decision should be forthcoming. They'll be pleased.

I honestly believe they are more worried about the reactions of the Karens of the world then anything else. The loud minority is destroying this country. I can't wait for the silent majority to get the hell off their ***.

Well my point had to do with players saying they didn't want to report to training camp because it wasn't safe. DLaw said he didn't want to take the virus home to his family so he might not report to TC.
Thus my question, how many guys are using that as an excuse, yet they attend parties and various other activities without any worries.
Just a thought.
