Many people said the same thing about Dak. Some people can handle the Ferrari when given the keys.
Romo wasn’t drafted but those types are very rare
And he took time to develope into an nfl player
I like the kid but the odds are against him
That said I liked the pick and want to see how he grows as a player but to think he’s ready or will be ready next year is a stretch
It could happen but you could win the lottery today, but the odds are very slim

Well given that I didn't mention Romo.....not sure why he's coming up here. But yes...Romo did have time and good mentorship. Still an amazing story! We got some Romo haters...but went from undrafted to arguably top-10 QB (or better) of his day around some very good QBs.

For certain...odds against Nooch. Like I said, just as they were, really for Dak. DO you think knowing what's known NOW...Dak would go higher in a draft? He seems capable if not stellar, for a mid round pick.

And I firmly believe having a solid team assisted Dak more than Dak assisted the team. No knock...just fact.

I mentioned romo because he is a good comparison. Late round/undrafted players are serious long shots at any position. But at QB it’s even a longer shot
Dak was a 4th rnd pick so most teams look at 4Th rnd picks as a good guy to develope
A 7th rnd pick is not really comparable to a 4th in how teams look at them
As for Dak if draft was done over he’d go in first rnd. But he is the exception
I like this kid but the idea he’s ready or could be ready next year is a pipe dream
This off season being so messed up really hurts him. He’s a guy that needs every pre season snap he can get and in 3 years we will have a reasonable idea what we have
My thoughts from watching what little is out there is he has a good shot at making a nfl qb if given the time to learn and grow

I stand by my original comment that Dak was ALSO a big reach, pipe dream, an exception.
He was never expected to start..but this team, was SO good...even a very average rookie QB pick.....was able to do well. I can only imagine what the QB the team was BUILT around...could have done.

You can't just look at draft position alone,. You have to wait for things to play out. If you didn't WAIT for Romo...you would have been really wrong. Right? If Dak had never been given a GREAT team to excel.....say given the Bengals or Miami..would he have been considered "elite", like some people think of him HERE. I think even your expressive take is NOT broad enough.

Without Romo in 2015 the team went 1-11 and there only thing that changed was Dak and Zeke. While Zeke is maybe the best back in the league, do you think Zeke was more to credit for the change if record from 1-11 to 13-3? Let's remember the running game wasn't terrible in 2015 and the total yardage of those backs equaled what Zeke ran in 2016.

And that solid OL assisted Zeke for the most part. Same for Emmitt and his OL along with Moose blocking at FB.

I do think the running game was better in 2016. I also think the blocking was WAY better. There'a dman good reason Dak has remained healthy...and it's not from Dak's wariness to get creamed (unlike Tony)....or inconstant o-line. Zeke was the x factor blocker. Better than ALL of our Tight ends and you know that is true.

Yes...you are right...I do think zeke has been underrated and *** with by are OWN so-called fans. I admit...he makes himself a target by people that just want to hate...much like our POTUS. But you hare to look beyond the hate. Zeke blocking offensive lineman....like stuff like that. Targeted by GODells' war with Jerry. Party boy people love to be jealous of,. shtitt like that.

Yes I agree with Zeke and his blocking but it was the same exact OL. I'm sorry but Zeke and his skills doesn't account for 12 more wins with the same exact team. Dak deserves just as much credit at the very least. He made some big plays that rookie year that none of the QBs could make from the year before.

To say Zeke was the reason for the 12 more wins is ridiculous

I am not sure I said any such thing. I am pretty sure we are in agreement.

When Romo came into he league there were many more "elite" level talents at QB, Dallas did not have anything resembling very good talent at the time. The NFL today there are a lot of has beens, not being demeaning, just elite QBs that are in the twilight of their careers. Outside of Mahomes, or Wilson Of all the young QBs are anyone of them 1 for 1 replacements for Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben. I see most QBs now in the NFL having Matt Stafford as their ceiling

I think so as well. My thing is Dak isn't perfect and needs improvement and I admit it has had some bad games but I defend him because he gets no credit and all the blame. Things like he only plays well because of the team around him...... that's why I said it was the same team as 2015 only him and Zeke was different and Zeke wasn't the main reason for 12 more wins
