Yep! And I'll admit he duped me to for awhile. But then I sat back and looked at all of these 3rd, 4th and 5th round guys who just come and go here. And in the case of Hill and Charlston? 1st and 2nd round picks....He's vying for guys and they weren't developing.

For the life of me I didn't understand why he would run away from highly touted linemen. There would be guys who would fall to us who would have 1st round grades.....and then the reports come out "Oh he doesn't fit in Maranelli's system....".
I have a saying.....Losers lose.

Take a look at Marinelli and Linehans HC records.

I FULLY understand some guys are better coordinators than HC. I get that....

But those are some legendarily BAD numbers.

That was the best we could do in Dallas for coordinators lately?

Why was that?

What good is being #1 in a stat like that if you're #19 in sacks?
While I am no Marinilli fan, the importance of this is that sacks really don't matter. The most important aspect is rushing the QB and forcing him to make bad decisions. So yes, sacks are good, but I'd rather rattle a QB and make him make bad throws.

And this is what I was referring to when someone told me Cowboys are an organization everyone wants to coach for. If true, I find it hard to believe. Their hiring process is the worst if they have their choice of any coach they want. I'm not sure if its a matter of Jerry wanting scapegoats around or what.

It was because they were some of the few coaches that Garrett knew.

Would be hard to apologize to him since comparing this D to his isn't remotely the same. Half the D is different with a different DC now.

He was the DC of a team that is O focused with a follow the ball GM. This team hasn't been focused on the D since Johnson left and even Phillips couldn't get the D up and running.

the great mike zimmer always had a good defense. despite never having coached a 3-4, he made us a pretty good 3-4 defense in one season when parcells ordered him to do so. marinelli was just a lousy coach. a scowl on ones face and a cute nickname do not a good coach make.

Really? What do you think the problem was then?
marinelli was the problem. look at what matt eberflus has done in indianapolis in a very short time. stephen saw it and offered eberflus the dc job, but matt rejected it and moved on.

I know he was. At one time, the man was a great defensive line coach, and he's likely a great person too. But the league has figured him out, as well as his scheme.

It's how the Rams were able to run all over his defense in the 2018 playoffs. Their players came right out and said so, they knew what his tells were. But some people want to try to ignore that obvious truth because it's too embarrassing for them to admit.

And it's why lesser quarterbacks like Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Mitch Trubisky could light up this defense. Because it was predictable and they knew what was coming.

There was a time it made sense to think the world was flat, even though everything we saw in the sky was round. Rod was just stuck in old school thinking. Dinosaurs had their moments.

What did Rod do well? Serious question. What advantages did we have because he was on the sideline?

Going into a game have you ever said, 'thank god we have Rod Marinielli'?
