Umm there are a ton of Cowboys haters in Houston. They are obnoxious, but not trashy like Eagles fans. Funny thing is they hate so hard that most of em know more about Dallas than their beloved Texans.

I’d say it’s more about the diff in cities and culture, not so much football. It’s not like Dallas vs Philip or NY. If the Cowboys are out if it, I’ll route for the other Texas team. It’s more like the Giants vs Jets fans dynamic, a mutual respect sort of but our team is still way better mentality. Watson really changed the team, he’s fun to watch. Haven’t seen much violence between the two teams I think you’re good

Yeah there's no Cowboy hate in Houston...hell I think you'd have a hard time finding Cowboy hate anywhere in Texas.
You see a ton of Cowboys hate in DFW.

A high percentage of people who live here aren't from here. Huge swath of people from Chicago, California, New York, and all over. They bring their teams with them, which is why you see so many opposing fans at games.

Nobody intentionally moves to Houston from out of state. They move to Austin, DFW, and across the hill country.

I mean of course there is "hate" everywhere. I'm speaking more so about the ratio between love vs hate and in Texas the ratio its like 9 to 1 to me.

In DFW, it's about 40% Cowboys fans.

Of course, that's the majority among specific teams, but there are a ton of Packers, Giants, Steelers, 49ers, Eagles, Saints, and Bears fans. Now, there are a lot of bandwagon Chiefs fans because of the Texas Tech connection.

The shine on the star has never been this low. A lot of longtime fans are drifting away because they're tired of how the team performs and is run.

Is this something people actually think about? Who cares what a given city thinks about about a sports team? Especially with everything going on in the world right now.

I've never traveled anywhere in my life and wondered what they think of the Cowboys. lol

I have lived in Houston my entire life. My father grew up in Dallas and was Clint Murchison's godson so he was a Cowboys lifer from the start as am I. All of the main recent "hate" for me stemmed from Bob McNair when he started up the Texans and cut off radio access to Cowboys games blacked out. Also the Houston Chronicle at the time went along with it. When the Oilers left, who I also loved (Warren Moon), the Chronicle did a poll of which team they wanted to cover including Saints, Titans, and Cowboys. Overwhelmingly the poll came out Cowboys but they chose to do all 3 and really cut out the Cowboys. Even during Bud Adams days there was a tacit agreement that most Texas fans were both Cowboys and Oilers fans and they supported the fanbase sharing. I would say the Cowboys hate has died down some as at least the Texas fanbase grew enough and became less insecure. From day one I have never been a Texans fan because of the way they treated Cowboys fans but I do root for players like JJ Watt, Deshaun Watson, and especially Nuke Hopkins. It is sad to see the talent abused so badly by an inept organization and coach. Once the Oilers left I had zero interest in the Titans and I think most people after all this time feel that way. Any real owner would have fought harder with the NFL to retain the Oilers' history here. I know all about Bud Adams. Doomsday101 is pretty accurate about the sentiment over the decades.

It's hard to feel a sense of rivalry in TX. The Texans put me to sleep, and they will never be the Oilers. All the Texans fans I have worked with only worry about the next game, not really about talking trash. I think even they know they will always be a B-team.

Pretty bad, but not as bad as what we’ve been seeing from Rockport lately. Dude is a straightup hater.

Dallas/Fort Worth is a transient area. Most people here are not from here. Corporations headquarter here, so people move here for work. People move here for the low cost of living compared to the craphole cities on the coasts.

They bring their fandom with them.

I lived in Houston 18 yrs...1993-2011. I have an affinity for the city and think it has msny great things but their sports fans are horrible about the Cowboys. I grew up in the 70s where I lived and died Cowboys but I enjoyed the Oiler teams. They can’t bring themselves to like anything. 90% of their y’all radio was “cowboy hate.” I do like a few of their sports radio guys..Lance Zeirlein and Sean Pendergrast but overall most were obnoxious back then. They lived on the 19-11 game for years. It was funny though..Kubiak was their Garrett but with much more pedigree. He did some stupid stuff. I used to visit their board Texanstalk to see their thoughts. They aren’t as passionate now except a small few.

I'm well aware of what DFW is....that does not make your statement correct. The fanbase is much stronger than 40% you are trying to continue your doom and gloom schtick you do.....

I have lived in Houston metro area for the last 14 years. I do agree with your comment, its almost always fun but I will say this and it makes no sense to me personally.

If I asked 1000 Dallas Cowboy fans which teams they hated the most in order... Texans would be way to the bottom of the list.

You do the same With Texans Fans and the Cowboys would be in their top 2 or 3.

I think it really pisses them off that Dallas fans don't really care about the Texans one little bit.. but they love to hate the Boys.

Very true, now I do admit I will not pull for Houston and take great pleasure seeing them lose in horrible fashion like the game vs KC. Up by what 28 and blew it. Almost as good as Buffalo comeback vs the Oilers. In terms of pure hate, Philly is at the top of the list.

Sure people move intentionally move to Houston from out of state. Houston isn't the size it is because nobody will move there. It's just more likely to be for work than for lifestyle like with the other areas you mentioned.

LOL, no schtick to it.

This sounds cocky, but I know a ton of people. I serve on multiple boards and committees with industry associations and organizations across real estate and financial sectors nationally and locally, and I proudly flaunt my Cowboys when I can. The majority of people who live here are not from here, especially through the suburban stretches that surround DFW.

Why do you think Cowboy home games are so heavily attended by opposing fans? Very few of those folks traveled here. They live here. And when their Packers, 49ers, Giants or Eagles are playing here, they scarf up the tickets.

You may know "a ton of people" but you are out of touch. I know a "ton of people" and all of them are Cowboy fans but I'm not naive enough to think that everyone in the metroplex is a Cowboy fan. I mean just check who the local ratings for Cowboy games in the metroplex. That does not represent 40% of the football fans being only Cowboy fans.

Dallas is one of the fastest-growing cities in America, in jobs and population growth. That brings in a lot of rival out-of-staters.
