I'm getting a lot crap about people giving up their fandom for this or that!
The first game I ever watched was the Hail Mary game, haven't missed one since. I used to schedule my weekend practice and coaches meetings around the games. I've hosted eight different players at my ranch for a BBQ. Randy White held three camps for me and I've had a few beers with Wade and his staff. George Teague signed a TO jersey for me! Only one he has ever done. Also got to meet with Jerry for about half an hour back in 94. Point is, I love the Cowboys!!! Especially now that Garrett is gone.
Why do you love them boys!!!

We like it when those fake fans "give up" there fandom. We don't need no fair weather posers. Once you choose your team, you should stick with it.

I love the Cowboys because I grew up in Dallas, and my father loves them too, watching games with him and my uncles got me into football in high school.

My dad loves the cowboys cuz even when he lived in Mexico, he knew, that the Cowboys were America’s team

My mom is from Guerrero and moved to Puebla, my dad is from San Luis Potosí. I love going to visit to learn about their ranchos where they grew up! And the cactus fruit! They call them tunas.

Born and raised in NC, my dad was a fan in the 80's well before the Panthers entered the league. Passed it on to me. I try to casually root for Carolina here and there, but there are not many things I'm more emotionally connected to than the Star. They're just my team.

I remember loving Deion Sanders and Rocket Ismail as a kid, and we watched Emmitt so much, he damn near is almost like family to me. Me and my old man do not talk anymore, but the Cowboys are one of the very few ties that still bind.

My father had a brain injury when I was two and my mom had to work three jobs to keep us together so this old guy, Mr. Campbell, would come over on Sundays and babysit me while the Cowboys game was on.
He taught me football.
My uncle was a Cowboy fan. He used to come to our house with a half-gallon of Blue Bell cookies and cream icecream, every Sunday. If we wanted some of his icecream we had to watch the game with him. Needless to say we watched every game. Boom, Cowboy fans.

My dad and my uncle's were fanatics... Nothing could shutdown a Sunday afternoon like a Cowboy's game. For 3 hours, everything would come to a standstill while we gathered around the TV. My job was to adjust the rabbit ear anteana... And, heaven help us if the Sunday sermon ran a bit long and threatened a noon kick-off.

If you get right to the heart of the matter, my love off the Cowboys is probably genetic coding.

Throughout my life and everything I experienced, the Cowboys were always there like a good friend. I've watched games in dorms, hospitals, remote military bases and drunk tanks. I watched a game during my brother's wedding reception...with his blessing, it was part of the "agreement".

Typically if someone sends me a wedding invitation and it's scheduled during a Cowboy game, I assume it means they didn't want me to attend.

For just about every memorable event in my life, I can associate a Cowboy game or event with it.

As far as those who quit being fans, I'll be honest. There have been times where I have envied them. But it's too late for me, I am hopelessly addicted.

It started out with the euphoria of the 70's, always delivering the rush that I craved. The quality began slipping in the 80's. However, in the 90's, the Johnson cartel delivered premium product until their "business restructure". Since then, it's been a hopeless, daily quest to return to that 70's high. I'm so desperate, I've become a constant target for the ripoffs perpetrated by "the Family". Now, when I see the star, I get those familiar physical reactions...faster heartbeat, increased stress, frequent moodswings usually followed by psychotic episodes....and that's when they win.

I grew up with an Aunt and Uncle and when the Cowboys came into the NFL I was an immediate fan. My Uncle had been a rams fan even though before the chiefs were called the chiefs and were in KC they were the Dallas Texans but not many people in the Metroplex were big AFL fans. Back then all home games were blacked out. It was quite some time before they made the rule that if games were sold out by Friday at 3:00 that a home game could be shown locally. My Uncle finally came around to being a Cowboys fan mostly after being coerced by his friends to switch to the Cowboys. So I watch every game I could until I went into the Air Force. Basic there were no TV's in the barracks so that year I missed all of training camp and the preseason and after basic I went to a training school in Wichita Falls and saw games there. Then I was stationed in Wiesbaden Germany and they had 2 games every Sunday, actually Monday mornings on the Armed Forces Network. The first game started at 1:00am and the 2nd game started right after that one finished. We never knew which games they were going to show so everybody in their barracks gathered around one of the two TV's they had in each building to watch NFL football. I felt lucky because most weeks the Cowboys were one of the games they showed. My room mate was always pissed because he was from New Orleans and was a saints fan but they were only on once the entire season as the second game and because of technical problem the signal was lost about half way through the 2nd quarter. Years later and other locations I discharged and went back home to the Metroplex, Plano, continued watching every week. Eventually because of my job I was transferred to CA and missed some games but a lot of them were the 2nd game each week.. Then I was transferred to Colorado Springs and later to just outside of Atlanta and then on to Green Bay. While there I have made some friends and a couple of brothers have given me a ticket to packer/Cowboys games. The games here are sold out in advance every year because all seats for the home team packers are sold as season tickets and are paid for in the spring each year. When I've gone to those games I expected to be surrounded by packer fans but one time the only packer fans were the two brothers and everyone else sitting around us were Cowboys fans. I talked to a couple sitting right in front of me and they were from New Jersey and they told me they go to all of the Cowboys games. I said he must have a really nice boss that allowed him to be off every Monday and he looked at his wife and said yes I do. I asked him what he did and he said he owns a car dealership and at this point his son was running most things.

Wow this turned out much longer than I intended. I have another story about having to go to court in Green Bay because of being a Cowboys fan and I tell that one some other time.

I'm with you there. But I really wonder about something - did Jerry let Garrett walk because Garrett sucked and Jerry truly wants to win, or did he merely cave to public pressure? MM really isn't really that big of a name, but he's certainly better than Garrett. A dead corpse propped up on the sideline would have been an upgrade over Garrett any day.

Corpses can't clap!

When I was 4 years old we went to New Mexico to visit my grand parents. It was Sunday and my Grand mother made me lunch, she made home made tacos I think. After wards she had me wash my hands and brush my teeth and said I’m now come on, we are going to watch America’s Team play football. Took me in and sit me down and started watching.

Man the shiny helmets and stars on the helmets. They just jumped off the screen even in the 70’s. Lol. I was hooked after that. Kicking and screaming in the floor when we lost to the steelers in the 70’s. Rode high in the 90’s. Never once have I thought about switching teams. I dont do that band wagon fan crap.

Player and coaches and even owners come and go. But it’s still The Cowboys. And I will always be a fan.

I grew up in a family of Browns fans. In the early 70s they sucked and were boring. Lucky for me, I had cousins in Garland and spent 3 summers in the Texas heat. Went to some offseason social events where Cowboys players (and Coach Landry) were present, began watching the team and that was that. Was at the Hall of Fame when Staubach was inducted and got to shake hands with him and Coach Landry. That and meeting Tony Dorsett (he grew up less than an hour away in Hopewell, PA) are my only brushes with greatness.

I was watching the Hail Mary game with my brother (Browns fan). When it was 4th and long he laughed and went to get some holiday food. Wasn't long after that he came in to see what his little brother was yelling about, but it wasn't enough for him to give up on the Browns. :muttley:

We still own a ranch and a couple of houses down there. My dad goes from rime to time. I haven't gone in years. Unfortunately, its too dangerous to travel the back roads to the ranch.
Still have a lot of family there. Beautiful country. Salud!
