Been a few weeks since I've been able to get on and provide a recap. It's been more or less because JJT was off 2 out of the last 4 weeks and because the content that I did have wasn't great.

Here is what was discussed on today's segment:

1. A lot of consternation this off-season about Jerry Jones and his stance on BLM. Clowns like Stephen A. Smith and Richard Sherman are constantly publicly questioning why he hasn't come out and made any comments since he is essentially one of the more influential people in the NFL. JJT found out from a source that Jerry is working behind the scenes with the players and together they are dropping huge sums of money on programs in Southern Dallas. JJT didn't get a dollar amount but he was told it was "eight digits." Supposedly a lot of these programs are mentoring programs, as well as programs that help recently freed inmates assimilate back into society and find employment. There are still a lot of things to work through with COVID-19 still being a very real problem, but the assumption is that there should be an announcement soon.

2. Don't be surprised if the league and the NFLPA delay training camp. The rules, as of right now, are changing almost every hour. The Cowboys feel good about their safety protocols, but with everything going on with the NFLPA, it's complicated everything. JJT noted one of his sources doesn't expect camp to come smooth at all.

3. Speaking of camp, it's going to be very difficult to evaluate players this year for your final roster. That's why preseason is so important. It may be boring to a lot of us fans watching UDFA's trot around the field, but with filling out the back end of your roster, those players need the reps. JJT mentioned Jon'Vea Johnson last season, and how he was a stud in camp and when the lights came on and he played in preseason games, he was garbage. Preseason also is very important when you're evaluating your special teams, which was a very prominent thing on this team that needs improvement. You can usually assume 47-48 players that are automatic locks to make the roster, but for some of those other guys fighting for reps, a source noted that practices are going to be crucial in their roster evaluations.

4. Broaddus dropped that bombshell on the Flagship station yesterday about doubt on Dak wanting to be in Dallas. JJT inquired to a source, and the answer he got kind of floored him. The source told JJT "I don't know if Dak wants to be in Dallas or not, but if he doesn't it's not because of Garrett." I suppose it's easy and almost lazy to make that connection because Garrett benched Romo for Dak, so you would think that Dak and Garrett would be each other "ride or dies." But the truth is, the source mentioned, that Garrett really wasn't that close to the players. His personality (fake) doesn't allow him to get close to people. He's a friendly guy who you can hang out with and throw the ball with after practice and all of that fun stuff, but the reality is Garrett has hundreds and hundreds of acquaintances and very, very few close friends. JJT then asked the source what reason does he/she believe that Dak is wanting out of Dallas? Source noted his demeanor during the negotiation process. Almost as if getting the deal done would've been nice, but wasn't that important to him. There was no urgency or much effort on his end to get this thing done. Source called the whole negotiation "weird", and I tend to agree. I can't recall a weirder Cowboys contract dispute.

And that's it folks! Hopefully this content heats up as the scheduled start of the season gets closer.

So now a second separate source is saying Dak's negotiating was weird or as broaddus source said "not in good faith" the only reason for that is he doesn't want to be here.

I wonder where he wants to be? I hope he gets there soon.

Number 4 makes a lot more sense than Dak being that upset over Garrett getting fired.
Kind of kills that idea many spit out here the players loved playing for Garrett.

Fan bases seem to never understand that 99% of athletes are not going to bash their current boss, especially in public. Jamal Adams is a rare occasion of a player willing to burn it all down and air his organization's dirty laundry. TO was another. Most athletes don't want to risk the consequences.

It applies with former players too.

I've talked to a former player one day where he bashed Mike McCarthy, only to see him on NFLNetwork later that day praising McCarthy.

I like Dak but as far as I'm concerned, if Dak wants out because of his affinity of Jason Garrett, he can walk. Bye. As JJT said, this probably isn't it anyway.

I would like to see him sign a deal in Dallas, but if he doesn't want to be there, there is no point.

I think this part of the story is being overblown. But if I'm wrong and Dak isn't 100% on staying, then the sooner he leaves, the better.

I do not see camp starting in July. August is a maybe. Late August would be my guess at the earliest.

I have no clue why Dak would not sign anything over $25M/year for the next 5 years. Take the money and be happy. I would have gladly accepted Jerry’s offer. Dak seemed just plain weird with the negotiations. Who knows though?

Him Not wanting to be in Dallas is not the only possible explanation. It’s entirely possible that Dak and his agent decided that playing on the tag this season was perfectly fine and acceptable to them as part of the long term strategy. Therefore, there was no hurry on Dak’s part to try and get a deal.

It doesn’t necessarily mean Dak does not want to play for the cowboys anymore.

It could easily be either Of those two things.

yea thats true he could be looking for an enormous deal after some tv contracts are adjusted or whatever.

or he could be looking to use his leverage to get out of here. Maybe he would like to follow Witten to Las Vegas and play for Jon Gruden?

guess we will find out.

The coach was speculating. He didnt say he talked to or heard it from Dak. He was out of line making a comment like that and Broaddus shouldnt be spreading the gossip as news

Not many people like Shannon Sharpe on TV, but he talked about his time when he was negotiating his extension with the Broncos. His agent recommended he turn down their first offer. He agreed. They talked some more. The Broncos upped the offer. His agent said he should hold out for more.

Sharpe looked at the dollars and said nope, I''m taking this deal. And told his agent to get it done. And he did.

That how it should work between the player and agent. You don't just sit there on your @@@ and do nothing, which reports suggest that's exactly what Dak did until it was too late.

This is more on Dak than on his agent, IMO.

unless it was Jon Kitna then he would have heard it directly from Dak and then kitna is putting it out there. Anyone who talks to broaddus must know he is going to blab immediately.

My guess is he's listening too much to his agent.

And another guess is that the agent is showing him past contracts and talking about how 'the numbers keep going up'. And while that's true for the majority of the deals, there are also quarterbacks who have recently tumbled out of that salary stratosphere. Dak can look to his new backup as an example, or Philip Rivers, or Cam Newton, or any of several quarterbacks.

Along with that huge salary comes huge expectations. And as soon as you're not meeting them - and the team can afford it - you're out and someone else is in. I hope the agent mentioned that as well, although I doubt it. France is looking to make money and name for himself, whether it comes at Prescott's expense or not. If playing in Dallas with his teammates is his 'dream job' he has a funny way of showing it.

The question about whether Prescott wants to be in Dallas is moot. They have the rights to his contract and can tag him again next season.

He grew up wanting to be a Cowboy but now that he's been one, I wonder if that's a done dream?

He knows how a good football team works and when he was at Miss St, he had one of the the, if not the, best D's in college ball. That was the reason they got so high in the ratings. He did not have to play with the same sense of scoring urgency in college as he has had to do with Dallas.

I do not know the effect of the leaked lies trying to make him look like the greedy one or them singling him out as the only QB in the league responsible for giving his team the hometown deal for the cap. I don't know if he likes all of the media coverage that Dallas draws and cultivates.

Would it be such a bad thing if he didn't want to remain a Cowboy? Aikman got plenty pissed when Booger lied about him retiring, maybe Prescott didn't like the way they played the game and they are the only team to do that.

He is going to play for the team that gives him the best deal. hasn't requested a trade, signed his tag and is showing up so I am assuming he's fine for now.
