So why do things "behind the scenes" when your MO is "front and center" with a minimum of 10 microphones shoved in your face?Been a few weeks since I've been able to get on and provide a recap. It's been more or less because JJT was off 2 out of the last 4 weeks and because the content that I did have wasn't great.
Here is what was discussed on today's segment:
1. A lot of consternation this off-season about Jerry Jones and his stance on BLM. Clowns like Stephen A. Smith and Richard Sherman are constantly publicly questioning why he hasn't come out and made any comments since he is essentially one of the more influential people in the NFL. JJT found out from a source that Jerry is working behind the scenes with the players and together they are dropping huge sums of money on programs in Southern Dallas. JJT didn't get a dollar amount but he was told it was "eight digits." Supposedly a lot of these programs are mentoring programs, as well as programs that help recently freed inmates assimilate back into society and find employment. There are still a lot of things to work through with COVID-19 still being a very real problem, but the assumption is that there should be an announcement soon.
2. Don't be surprised if the league and the NFLPA delay training camp. The rules, as of right now, are changing almost every hour. The Cowboys feel good about their safety protocols, but with everything going on with the NFLPA, it's complicated everything. JJT noted one of his sources doesn't expect camp to come smooth at all.
3. Speaking of camp, it's going to be very difficult to evaluate players this year for your final roster. That's why preseason is so important. It may be boring to a lot of us fans watching UDFA's trot around the field, but with filling out the back end of your roster, those players need the reps. JJT mentioned Jon'Vea Johnson last season, and how he was a stud in camp and when the lights came on and he played in preseason games, he was garbage. Preseason also is very important when you're evaluating your special teams, which was a very prominent thing on this team that needs improvement. You can usually assume 47-48 players that are automatic locks to make the roster, but for some of those other guys fighting for reps, a source noted that practices are going to be crucial in their roster evaluations.
4. Broaddus dropped that bombshell on the Flagship station yesterday about doubt on Dak wanting to be in Dallas. JJT inquired to a source, and the answer he got kind of floored him. The source told JJT "I don't know if Dak wants to be in Dallas or not, but if he doesn't it's not because of Garrett." I suppose it's easy and almost lazy to make that connection because Garrett benched Romo for Dak, so you would think that Dak and Garrett would be each other "ride or dies." But the truth is, the source mentioned, that Garrett really wasn't that close to the players. His personality (fake) doesn't allow him to get close to people. He's a friendly guy who you can hang out with and throw the ball with after practice and all of that fun stuff, but the reality is Garrett has hundreds and hundreds of acquaintances and very, very few close friends. JJT then asked the source what reason does he/she believe that Dak is wanting out of Dallas? Source noted his demeanor during the negotiation process. Almost as if getting the deal done would've been nice, but wasn't that important to him. There was no urgency or much effort on his end to get this thing done. Source called the whole negotiation "weird", and I tend to agree. I can't recall a weirder Cowboys contract dispute.
And that's it folks! Hopefully this content heats up as the scheduled start of the season gets closer.
As we look back at Dak from the beginning..My guess is he's listening too much to his agent.
And another guess is that the agent is showing him past contracts and talking about how 'the numbers keep going up'. And while that's true for the majority of the deals, there are also quarterbacks who have recently tumbled out of that salary stratosphere. Dak can look to his new backup as an example, or Philip Rivers, or Cam Newton, or any of several quarterbacks.
Along with that huge salary comes huge expectations. And as soon as you're not meeting them - and the team can afford it - you're out and someone else is in. I hope the agent mentioned that as well, although I doubt it. France is looking to make money and name for himself, whether it comes at Prescott's expense or not. If playing in Dallas with his teammates is his 'dream job' he has a funny way of showing it.
Him Not wanting to be in Dallas is not the only possible explanation. It’s entirely possible that Dak and his agent decided that playing on the tag this season was perfectly fine and acceptable to them as part of the long term strategy. Therefore, there was no hurry on Dak’s part to try and get a deal.
It doesn’t necessarily mean Dak does not want to play for the cowboys anymore.
It could easily be either Of those two things.
Makes no sense for him to not want to be in Dallas. I could understand things souring after negotiations, but this reads like he went into negotiations with that thought process. Where would Dak go that gave him a better opportunity? Of course we've gotten great value out of Dak, but he has gotten great value out of the team as well. If ever a qb was put in an excellent position. His coaching may have been lacking, but his line and skill players have more than made up for it. The organization and city has embraced Dak since day one. I have a hard time believing he wants out. The only thing that makes sense to me is money and him possibly believing he can get more elsewhere.
France did the negotiating, and the article did not say the negotiating wasn't in good faith, just said it was weird. So now a second separate source is saying Dak's negotiating was weird or as broaddus source said "not in good faith" the only reason for that is he doesn't want to be here.
I wonder where he wants to be? I hope he gets there soon.
(swoons at what a leader this man is)
Dak is no big deal in their world. They don't negotiate. They dictate.
Todd France is the agent for Amari Cooper and he didn't dictate anything in that case. France went through his normal method of tough negotiations and then took the market rate contract the Cowboys were offering.
If France was really dictating to the Cowboys, Dak would have held out this whole time.
It's my understanding that Amari Cooper's agent is Chafie Fields, not Todd France.
I've been talking about garretts fake personality for years and how the players never could buy the crap he's selling but most people on here wrote off my comments.. More and more evidence coming out that I'm smarter than most.Been a few weeks since I've been able to get on and provide a recap. France also represents Maliek Collins. My bad then, I was going from memory. I don't think France is infallible, he has some big wins but there are plenty of other cases where he got a market rate contract instead of a market setting contract - which is what Dallas is going to do.
Quarterbacks are another story. Receivers are largely a dime a dozen, hence why the elite ones make less than half as much.Todd France is the agent for Amari Cooper and he didn't dictate anything in that case. As far as point #1, does Jerry really need to come out and say that he does not agree with the narrative? Jerry has always given big bucks to the neediest and now it seems that he has even dug deeper for what seems like very good causes. Actions with the pocket count much more than bs statements. Everybody making statements, but they all got Crocodile arms when it counts. Bravo Jerry!Been a few weeks since I've been able to get on and provide a recap.
