------Sure he is...as he knows Big Mike won't put up with his inadequacies.

Exactly why players that want things to stay easy, want their current coach to stay. I call it the "Substitute teacher theory"....nobody wants them to leave and see the Hard A return....goofing off, and not being held accountable is nice.

I would, too. But the thing is, I want to fix the things in Dallas that are keeping good coaches from getting farther in the playoffs. The conviction that the issues have been the HCs app this time means we’re ignoring the actual issue. And each time the HC turns over people buy into it for at least four more years.

The issue hasn’t been the coaching. It hasn’t even been the QB.
Then what, pray tell, has the problem been? I'll go with coaching.

Wow and yet none of the major sporting site uses it. The only sites that use something other than the same stats that have always been used is ESPN who made up the QBR. The New York Times msn.foxsport.com site from 2005 is a huge joke. Just to be sure I put www.msn.foxsports.com in by browser and what came up is warning that foxsport is not affiliated with msn. This website does not exit. Then it says to try to retype it and try again if you think you got this warning in error. I did retype it and got the very same warning again. I then put it in google and www.foxsports.com came up - no msn. There is a wikipedia that states back in 2004 microsoft and foxsport agreed that foxsport would be their sports portal but they aren't anymore. So now the only place that one can get Aikman's made up stats is on his own site.
.
.
Well that is probably why he started his own site.
Do you think his ratings are BS?
The point is Aikman felt standard ratings and stats were flawed, as I do, and he came up with his own.
Now how good his are I dont know, I have heard him talk about it during games, but this was first time I looked at them.

Apparently all of the sports sites don't think they're so flawed because they still use the original stats and not Aikman's. Until you put the link up I didn't even know Aikman had a website. Aikman's stats are just like me saying I'm a movie star because once I was an extra in a movie called Wild In The Streets.

Does anyone know if it is possible to trade Dak now that he signed his franchise tag or did they have to get it done before the July deadline to sign him to a long-term deal?

Not suggesting they do so, but curious how the franchise tag works.

I’ve answered this question many many times at this point. Shorthand is that winning NFL championships is hard and Jerry introduces a lot of uncertainty and a lot of distraction to the process.

I hope you’re right and the issue is coaching. I don’t think it is, though.

It is possible to trade a player after they have signed their franchise tag. It has happened but I very seriously doubt the Cowboys would ever consider doing that. To my knowledge no tagged QB has ever been traded after signing the tag.

Nope. He never had to beat out anyone for his position. He was protected and never made to play behind the second string line in preseason or in games in which the entire offensive line wasn't starting .

Stop embarrassing yourself.

A lot of QBs never had to beat out anyone. Tom Brady got his job when Bledsoe got hurt. Aaron Rodgers got his when Favre moved on as a free agent. It's not really unusual.

It's false to say Dak never had to play preseason behind 2nd team O-Linemen. He got a lot more reps in preseason to get ready to start as a rookie than O-Linemen like Martin, Smith and Frederick.

He never had too.. everybody put blame on Garrett; now there’s no excuses left. We’re going to see what Dak is really made of.
So then how is it fair to accuse Dak of wanting someone to be a scapegoat for him? Can’t blame Dak for who “everybody” put blame on.

Of course, it’s not exactly accurate to claim nobody has ever put blame on Dak ...

Kitna, imo, has always come across as a class individual. Not one to bad mouth former employers . And he would know such comments pertaining to dak would be hurtful to the qb and his relationship to the cowboys organization and his teammates. Broaddus, on the other hand is a disgruntled former employee who doesn't care.

Tell that to Terrance Newman, Bradie James and Demarcus Ware.

also before the cowboys job I believe he muscled himself into a head coaching position at a local high school so his son could play qb there costing the existing coaches there jobs.

Maybe it is just like that, and the problem is all fixed now. Or maybe the issue in Dallas is something else. We’ll hopefully see soon enough.

Its going to be very interesting. I personally think Garrett's offense is going to really work well in NY. I also have a hunch Dallas is going to become very pass happy and screw up a bunch of games that way.

Everyone right now is predicting Dallas will win the east and make a possible playoff run since McCarthy is here....As parcells used to say there are two sides to that pancake. What if Dallas struggles and the giants offense has a great year? l bet that would make Garrett a hot candidate again because it would put the failure right back on the jones family.

If McCarthy is not careful he could be wade phillips in Dallas.

Now I am no garrett fanboy and loathe him for what he did to Ware and Romo but I happen to like the coryell-zampese-gibbs-turner offense he essentially ran and loved the physical style of play it relied on. I think a change from that this year is a very questionable move and also a new offensive line coach did not work out well two years ago so it may be a struggle this year too.

People's heads will explode if the Giants offense is really good and Dallas misses the playoffs.

It could happen, if that Giants OL has improved. That team has some good offensive players to improve with.

The thing for Dallas is this is a bad year to be changing up both sides of the ball. With all the other distractions, I can see learning new systems being a hurdle. It’s going to be a weird year, like the strike-shortened seasons, anyway. Players opting out, or getting sick. Whole teams could get taken out. It’s going to be a strange season.

But, yeah, McCarthy wants to hit the ground running, I’m sure. If that doesn’t happen, Dallas is a tough place to coach.

Anyone who thinks coaching hasn't been an issue in Dallas the past 10 years simply hasn't been watching the games. Jason's in-game management was arguably some of the worst I've ever seen from a tenured Head Football Coach. He couldn't adapt to changes in the game and didn't have the football IQ to revamp his game plan on a whim. Last season was among his worst work. We were 0-8 when trailing at halftime and 1-13 the last two seasons. He was so bad that Jerry knew that he couldn't sell a contract extension to the fanbase, even though he probably did want to extend him deep down. Jason also had no coaching network to speak of either, so Jerry had to hold his hand in hiring his own staff. Jason's hires include career underachievers, smooth talking simps like Paul Alexander or Kris Richard, or random guys like Derek Dooley and Scott Linehan, whom he met on Saban's staff in Miami. No quality coach wanted to work with Garrett because they all know he's a fraud and a product of nepotism. How many good coaches has he developed? The list ends with Matt Eberflus, who embarrassed him with a 23-0 SHUTOUT when we played Indy two seasons ago.

I understand COVID has made a lot of things difficult with McCarthy being able to coach this team, but the presence of his big butt in that locker room instantly makes this team better because the philosophy, tendencies, and stench of Jason Garrett is gone. One thing that struck me yesterday was how he told the team that everything they do will be about winning. Garrett only wanted to "build a team that we can all be proud of." To hell with Garrett. Happy trails.

Well I can tell you why he didn't want Garrett gone because DAK was Garret's guy. But now that MIKE is here he holds no allegiance to DAK the minute that DAK slips in games it's Dalton time and by what we saw last year it's bout to happen I say mid season Andy plays.

Ok if Dak starts sucking he should be benched.....but lets concentrate on your "based on what we saw last season" did you watch Dalton play last season? Again I hope to hell this coach has the reigns and calls the shots.... I just want to make sure your ready for the shots your asking him to call.
